Would have hit the BIN right away if those Paradice $5s were in better shape.

If I'm not mistaken, the $100 Aztars alone are selling upwards of $3/per on eBay. No?

You already have some of these chips $5 & $25 chips @courage ?

Yes.

Grats Sir! This auction was a fine bargain in my opinion. I hope you get them in play ASAP.

Game pictures please! -=- DrStrange
Well sir, these aren't for play, these are for sale. Sorry to disappoint.

Believe me, I wish I had time to play. Yes, these will be flipped.

this community dont take too kindly to chip flippers, just sayin'

Listen, I'm not getting into a pissing match about it. I'm just not gonna do it. I understand it's not something everyone understands. At the end of the day, we all flip something for a living.

If anyone wants to debate flipping, these two threads at Chiptalk go through pretty much all the pros and cons.

Ever hear the joke about the guys in prison who tell the same jokes so many times that they stop telling them and instead just assign each a number? One guy will yell out, "42!" and everyone laughs (the punchline fwiw is when some guy yells out "39!" to a deafening silence and his cell mate says, "It's all in the delivery.").

I doubt anyone has developed any novel arguments since 2012. Therefore, in the spirit of the above-referenced joke, I propose that any chip flipping debates from this point forward should be free of any new commentary whatsoever and be presented only as a link to the post in one of the previous threads that makes your point. Multiple links are acceptable.

See, @abby99, we'll always find uses for good Chiptalk content!

Fair point - however, as the above post demonstrates, comments on the douche-baggery-ness of it all should be permitted, imho.

Also to the new owner, when selling on eBay you should make sure the background is littered with unrelated (and not included in the auction) WSOP items, always goes down a treat.

Oh, don't worry.... I understand it perfectly.

I have been open, honest and transparent about this transaction. I've already traded some of these chips to another member of the PCF community because he needed them. That is a good thing.

Let me explain how this works. I do my homework and find what I feel are value buys. Then, I risk/invest my money (in this case $1000) to obtain the lot. In this buy Ill have to remove 4000 stickers from each chip, clean them all using an Ultrasonic cleaner (again, another hefty investment) and possibly oil each one by hand. From there, I'll allow others - like you - to either trade or purchase a small quantity of these chips to help build there collection. This is called marketing...and it also takes time and money.

Now, as I understand you and a few others have a problem with that. You think guys like me should do all the above for free - no return on investment.

So do me a favor. Today, when you ride the city bus to McDonalds, I want you to ask you sister behind the counter how much they have invested in that happy meal you're about to buy. Then, when they tell you $1.50, I want you to call them asshole - just like you did me. Because clearly they shouldn't make anything when they sell YOU a burger and toy.

You are ignorant to how the real world works and it's a shame you're even allowed to troll these threads. I don't have a problem with you expressing an opinion but you've crossed the line.

I could've remained in the shadows and never said one word about buying these. Yet, I want to make connections. I want to work with you to help you get the chips you need. Isn't that why we're all here?

So the next time you jump in with your unnecessary comments, think about the homework, risk, labor and marketing guys like me endure to make these lots available to you.

Better yet, save up your unemployment checks and outbid me on the next fucking auction.

Cheers,
Tim

@chkmte you're new, so first I want to apologize for some of the harsh language that was used. We have all bought and sold chips, and sometimes we make a profit. We do understand the concept.

However, this is a community of chip collectors and enthusiasts. And while we appreciate folks who come here to make their goods available to us, Chip flippers are often seen as predatory.

The reason for the backlash, is that when a member is looking out for the community, by posting an auction link such as the OP did, they may often recognize they could scoop them up to flip, but probably felt there might be a member out there who really needed them more. They're paying it forward to the community.

These posts are heads up for someone who might really need them. You have every right to scoop them up to flip, but it goes against the spirit of the thread, and denies that person who might have really needed them... and to be so open about your intentions comes across as predatory and certainly not like someone wanting to be welcomed into the community with open arms. Bad karma might be a good way to sum it up.

Best of luck.

Let's all play nice...

Debate is fine, nastiness is not.

Edited: while I was editing, Tommy was deleting. It's against forum rules to call a member vulgar names.
