Not Mine Aren't these someone's customs??? (1 Viewer)

I've always wondered about this...

- When you order custom chips, does the manufacturer make some extras for themselves? I mean, can they legally do this, if they don't own the artwork?

- Or is it that these were reject chips not originally fit to send to the customer?

From what it looks like, Spinetti's seem to have gotten some of ASM's old stock from either Mike or Red.

I would hope that if I'm paying for a big custom set that could potentially be used at a meet up, the manufacturer wouldn't have kept a single chip without my knowledge and permission. Security could be a big issue with cash games if a bunch of chips "appeared." Who knows what happened back then but I trust CPC.

Back in ASM Vegas days they use to make quite a few extras (probably because Red couldn't get a sandwich made at a subway) and use to offer the extra chips to the customer at a reduced price. It's possible this happened to
dale also and he didn't want the extras.

It's also possible Michael and Red just did nothing at all about the extras and didn't give 2 shits.

Well, THAT's pretty disturbing... If anyone ever sees Via Lactea chips for sale anywhere, please PM me immediately.

I do know that Dale just did a reorder to replace the entire set, or close to it - it's POSSIBLE that he decided to unload all the old ones already (to Spinettis, or someone who sold them to Spinettis) - if so, why not offer them here first though???

Has anyone running the bank at a meet up ever encountered a substantial shortage when the game cashes out? Lot's of samples out there.

The $5s weren't getting remade

Wonder if spinettis would remove the auction if he asked them?

Well THATS disconcerting. The only solace I potentially have is I bought all the extras the evil cyborg "chip" maker offered.

A buck each is WAY cheaper than those originally cost. Has anyone heard from Dale?

I know several members here have close enough relationships with Mikko and other folks at Spinetti's that they could possibly ask about how these were acquired.

FWIW I would lose my fucking shit if I saw someone selling my customs in any quantity more than sample sets. At least have the common fucking courtesy to offer them for sale to the owner of the chips before selling them to someone else. This is not directed at Spinetti's, btw, but at king fucking asshole red ott whose name I will go through the trouble of uncapitalizing even when typing on my phone which tries to capitalize his dumb name because it is evil.

Very much this (except for custom sets that I've sold).

^^^ This.

I've thought about this after I spent way too much time boxing & mailing samples. I'm not a sample collector I like racks :). Probably won't be selling samples down the road...but some might just show up unannounced on some chippers' doorsteps.

I have been wondering what happened to the Suicide Queen $5's meatboy sent back to voldemott.

If I were you, Mark, I would definitely call Mikko and ask. Obv it would be worth picking them up.

While I'm at it, if I were you I would also take a drive in your Abarth and go pet some puppies at the office.

That's just wrong. 3 years later and the horror that is
Red Ott
still hasn't gone away.

I spoke with Mikko and Jason at Spinnetti's and they don't think they have any Suicide Queen's, but he will call me if he finds them.

I'm already at the office, so no need to take a drive to pet the puppies, :)

I'm working with Mike on another custom set, just emailed him a link to this thread.

Thanks. I wanted to make sure he had seen the link on eBay but didn't want to inundate him with something he already knows about.

Hi all,

DEFINITELY not from me. I still have ALL of my chips from my initial order. This is very upsetting and bothersome for all of the reasons listed above. It's $900 worth of my cash game chips...granted I'm going to have different colors and inlays but the $5's are the same color and edge spots.

Thank you for bringing this to light. I know this was from ASM Vegas but I have an email into David to see if he can offer any insight.

Sounds like some people on here know the seller? Any help in getting this taken down would be greatly appreciated. I can obviously email directly and ask but thought I would check with other members first.

They're my chips with my inlay design and my real last name on them that are being advertised online and I definitely didn't give permission for this. Pretty shady...

Many thanks. Hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Definitely disturbing. This has to be from Red. Anyone who had a set from ASM Vegas has to be on the lookout now.

A manufacturer is entitled to keep extras for the purpose of showing them to prospective customers as samples. We keep 3 extras of each, one for each owner and one for the factory, and any cash chips are notched. It wouldn't make sense to make any more extras than that, you are just losing your profit. We try and project wastage as well as possible and are usually within a couple of chips. If we make too many we include them with the order. Half the time we are short two or three and have to make extras. We always make a few extra bodies but don't press them with inlays unless needed. Those left over get CPC inlays put on them and they are our inlaid advertising samples.
In this case I can only assume that ASM Vegas made way too many chips to make sure they got enough good ones.
It's completely wrong for them to have sold them on but I'm certain Spinetti's bought them in good faith so not much you can do about it. I will text Mikko and Mike in a minute though just in case they bought a ton of other stuff. When we bought the equipment we got no chips at all. Strange given there were thousands lying around when we first viewed, including maybe 1500 Key West. No clue if he sold those to Dennis or what came of them.

Don't forget that many of the buyers send out as many as 40 sample sets to people anyway.
