I needed a case for a 10 players tournament set with oversized chips and plaques so I decided to customize a standard case.

I bought this : http://www.poker-production.com/mallette-simili-noire-vide-500-jetons-p-5436-c-211.htm

First step, I carefully remove the inside to reuse some parts.

I created what I needed and checked that everything fits correctly.

Put some velvet on the new parts and ribbon for the plaques.

Et voilà !

Brilliant. I've been pondering how to store my new chipset (with plaques), and have overlooked the obvious option to just gut and rearrange an existing case.

I would be interested in a step by step on how you made the divisions, the felting and how you planned the spacing. I can think of a few sets that could use custom cases either to add butons, 43mm chips or both.

The first step was to take measure of the inside once empty and then I've made a plan.
I took 44mm for the chips and 5mm for the division. The space left in the middle was perfect for a deck of card.

For the chips I measure the height of 30 chips (even if I only need 28).

The thing to be careful is the thickness of the velvet. Depending on what you chose it may take 1 or 2 mm.

I've used neoprene glue for the tissue but maybe it was not the best choice because if you put too much glue it pass through.

Another thing, the height of the divisions fits for 4 Matsui plaques.

And the wood divider you added was what exactly. And velvet you got where?

Since the OP is in France, the answers probably aren't super helpful. If it was me, I'd use solid poplar (though pine, or even 1/4" plywood would be serviceable, I think) and look for velvet at a fabric store (Jo-ann's, probably).
