These are some of the most gawd-awful cheap plastic chips to ever make it out of China.

Perhaps the worst 'feature' is the gold 'paint' in the debossed mold areas that will transfer to your hands, felt, case, clothing, and other chips. I wouldn't wish these on my worst enemy.

They are horribly nasty.

And we have ourselves, based on comparison with other sets I have of both clay and plastic, a set of clays! Case full is 16+ lbs.. . Upon initial inspection these are a nice set. Gave a few an oiling and immediate difference. Top chips in pics are untouched, bottoms are freshly oiled. Pic with all the chips, the bottom 5 are oiled.

These will find a good home for sure...

Stickers on what I believe are clay. I have a number of other plastic sets as well as dozens of clay sample sets (yes, it is a problem). The look, feel and sound like my other clays. Nothing like the plastics I have but how do I know for 100% sure?

You believe wrong. They are injection-molded plastic with adhesive-backed labels.

If these feel like your other clay chips, chances are those are plastic, too.

How do I know for sure?

1) clay chips don't have adhesive labels (unless aftermarket labels are applied by owners after manufacturing)

2) clay chips don't have gold paint lettering applied to mold debossed areas

3) clay chips don't have injection-points where molten plastic material is fed into the mold

4) there are only so many legitimate compression-clay molds in existence. The 'casino' mold is not one of them.

Lots of people might claim to be selling clay chips, but that doesn't make it so. Only four legit clay chip manufacturers in recent history -- TRK, ASM/CPC, Paulson/GPI, and BCC/GPI. And none made these chips.

If there is, I'm not even sure how that would be explained to the home owner's insurance company. ;-)
