Just wondering what people thought of this mock-up for an Aruba Palm $500 chip to go along with the rest of the Aruba Palms below. I have a rack of (100) gray Casablanca $100 chips that I thought might coordinate with the other three chips and be a good option for labeling into $500 chips to make my Aruba Palms more versatile as a larger tournament set.

(I used a circle shaped inlay because I don't have the photoshop skills to do anything else for the mock-up. That said, a faux-shaped inlay with color matching would be an option if I were to go through with this labeling project)

Any thoughts?

I guess if the sticker doesn't leave a residue , then you are good to go, (with my blessing;)

i like it. though round labels >>>>>>>>>>>> faux shaped labels imo.

I don't disagree. I threw the line about the faux inlays in there mostly to solicits other's opinions on the subject. For me, it's generally shaped inlay > round inlay >>> faux inlay.

GooBGone(spelling) will remove the sticker residue. Spray it on the chip after removing the label. It's a long tough job, but will work.

The hardest part will be removing(peeling) off the label's.

Are you talking about removing the inlays on the Casablanca chips? I was going to start by just using Aruba Palm Beach tribute labels over the existing Casablanca inlays. Even though I think it would look nicer in the end to remove the inlays and replace them with laminated/textured labels, it sounds like a ton of work and obvious the destruction of the original chip's inlay.

Brilliant. Round inlay. Colors match. And 818. Go for it.

No, Just removing the Labels you put on. I have removed Labels that were over the original inlays
on a couple sets, and will not do it again...

I would not try to remove the Inlays ever !!!!

Gotcha. I was initially a bit confused since I haven't put any labels on (yet).

Removing labels is not that hard. Vinyl ones especially will not tear like paper, and if there's residue left behind that's not too difficult to remove -- just be careful, since a lot of products that will dissolve adhesives will also dissolve chips.

Removing inlays is a lot of work but not impossible. I have replaced the original inlays with laminated labels on a handful of projects and they have all turned out really well.

I don't like the spot pattern on the 500. I think it doesn't match the set. I'm guessing its because I used to have an Aruba Palm collection, but going from 25, to 28 to 19 seems out of place.

For me, I would prefer to see a continuation of 28 or anything 28-33. The casino mexico fantasy chips used to be available a lot. Having a 50, or 50,000 would be hawt but also 100 or 100,000 is good to keep up the gray'ish theme.

I don't disagree. I like the 818 spot pattern on its own, but I agree it doesn't work as well with the other three chips. I originally bought the Casablanca chips to go with my mixed set of $5 PCA secondaries and $25 Aztar secondaries, where I think the spots fit in better. However, the colors seem to coordinate well, and I wasn't using them for anything else, so I thought they'd make a decent $500 chip (even if the spots aren't ideal).

As for the Casino de Mexico chips, I would strongly consider those as options for relabeling (for this and perhaps other projects), but I haven't seen them available in large quantities.

But the colors do match perfectly and the spot difference can be a good way to distinguish the higher value of the set (as well as the round inlay).

Good points, and now looking back at the four chips together, I think they actually will work pretty together as a set. I suppose if I were designing all of the chips from scratch, I would have gone with different spot patterns on the $5 and $25 chip to differentiate them from each other. But since it's an existing set that I'm just trying to expand with a higher denomination, I'm not going to worry about that :)

I thought for a second they just came up for sale on eBay this morning. Turns out it was the $5 chip, which might actually make a decent relabeled $1 chip for this set,

I like those much better with this set.

The more I look at it, the more I am convinced that this is the better way to go. It looks much more like that was meant to be the next chip in the sequence (other than the color not being a more traditional $500 denomination color).

Pink isn't a bad choice for T500 though. Are those relabeled snappers? Don't recognize the spot colors/pattern..... how many did you get?

Bought them from @ChaosRock this afternoon. I believe they're cancelled Colorado Visitor Bureau $2 chips. The picture is just a mockup since I won't have the chips in hand until next week. There's 85 mint chips I am planning to relabel. Originally I picked them up with then intention of making them either $0.25 or $0.50 chips, but after mocking them up, I think this is the better option.

Edit: added pictures

I liked the gray but after seeing the pink, I'd go with that. I use these same chips in my cash set and the pink really pops.

The pinks are waaaaaaay better and would look sweet sitting on the black hundos. Well done!

The labels from Gear arrived this afternoon!

Only labeled one chip so far to see how it looks (and see how well it conceals the drilled cancellation hole).

Hopefully I'll get to the rest soon so I can post some splashed pot shots :)

Damn that looks frickin sweet. Nice choice.

Thanks! Yeah, I think both in terms of color and spots, it all came together nicely.

I'm thinking in addition to a decent tournament set, this would now make a decent micro cash stakes set, just using cents in place of dollars, for something like a $20 buy in $0.10/$0.20 game.
