I'm looking to purchase a quantity (at least 1-2 racks) of Paris $1 chips in as close to mint condition as possible (I need pretty sharp edges and relatively minimal wear).

I have lots of chips I could trade for them as well if you don't want to just sell outright. See my profile for a mostly complete list, though I'd be potentially willing to trade for items not on the "trade" list as well.

Thanks!

One of my favorite current $1 chip in Vegas...

Shhhhhh. You're suppose to comment on what a hideous chip it is and that people should just send them to me in bulk because they're so unattractive (y)

It's soooo funny 'cause after I wrote that I thought: 'I don't think that's gonna be helpful to Dan'... Sorry man, it was more of a 'great idea' type of comment... ;)

I will be in Vegas next week. I doubt I will have much time to harvest, but I can see if I can buy the chips from the cage. How much are you willing to pay to tip the cage?

I'll actually be in Vegas in two weeks as well. At this point I had assumed that harvesting anything close to mint would be tough since they've been in circulation so long (I could be wrong as I don't have a lot of harvesting experience).

If you get lucky some casinos seed their current chips with new ones as the old ones disappear or break. You could possibly find some, but that casino is not conducive to harvesting so buying might get easier.

Paris has no poker room, and they don't sell chips at the cage. You have to get them at the roulette tables, a short stack at a time.

Plus the current $1 chips are afflicted with the "smaller inlay" syndrome so common in Vegas in recent years. :(

Oh, no, no, no!

Q: What's worse than relabeling gorgeous Casablancas?

A: Relabeling Paris $1s!!!

(At least the large label $1s -- sell those to me instead!)

I thought the answer was going to be labeling a rack of PCA $100 secondaries for this set :p

BTW, here's a mockup of what the Paris $1 chip would look like with the other chips.

Maybe just me, but I don't think a light blue quarter works very well with a gray dollar.

I'd lean towards either pink or a yellow hue to better match/compliment the other colors in the set. Dark blue might work, but not light blue (especially with white spots).

You're correct, which is why the mantra around here is get samples. I bought a few of them last week to see how they'd look in person before dropping $3/chip on two mint racks . Turns out they were a bit too light and close to the gray $1 chips. Love the Paris chip on its own, but didn't work as well in this set in person.

I did, however, manage to get my hands on two near-mint racks of Scandia $1 chips. I probably overpaid for them, but I think they work really well with the set.

Has your ocd tempted you to paint on the missing $1 edge spots yet? :ROFLMAO:

Tempted? Yes.

Am I going to do it? No.

Even I have to draw the line somewhere (and that somewhere isn't on the edge of a chip).

I've negotiated with the OCD portion of my brain and we've come to the agreement that since it's a fractional chip, it can (and perhaps even should) have less spots than the non-fractionals.

I like that the .25 has less edgespots. Makes sense for the fractional to have less then the whole amounts.

I've come around and feel that way too now.

Otherwise, if I had stuck to my original plan of only 818 spots, I might have ended up labeling a few racks of black PCA $100 secondaries as quarters  Those would have been some pretty pricey quarters!
