I am pleased to announce I am now ready to design my own CPC custom set.

I have been around for a little bit, CT 3 1/2 years, PCF 1 1/2, I have seen many custom sets and wanted them ALL. I have went the log way around and started with cheep chips, then to not as cheep (china clay), then Used Empress Casino chips, then to a mint Paulson 1995 Casino De Isthmus, then to mint Empress casino chips.

After trying to come up with a name and theme I soon realized what I thought of has already been done, to some extent, so I kinda gave up...

Then 2 months later, it happened, I thought "hey music has been a BIG part of my life" and still is...So here is a little story I have to share.
In 1977 (I was two) my Grandfather, Aunt, Mom, and my Dad built a MUSIC SHACK in the backyard at my grandfathers house, every holiday and some birthdays the Family would bring their instruments and jam all day and eat..
My last name is Allen and my Grandfathers name was Arthur, so the A mold is the way to go, and as you will see below the Guitar in the $1 chip is the same shape as His guitar "Blondie" and you will see the design of the plaque has an image of the shack.....

I would like some input on my design and would like to hear any Ideas for the $20 and I am still debating on Hot stamping the 5 cent..
Here is what the set will be:
5 cent, 39mm, A mold
25 cent, 39mm, A mold
$1, 39mm, A mold
$5, 39mm, A mold
$20, 44mm, Scroll mold (would Love the 44 A, but that aint happening:()....
$100, Rectangular plaque 82 x 57mm x 5mm thick

I would like to speak with anyone who can finalize my art, please PM me if you have the time, thank you.

Enjoy, and I look forward to seeing your comments and design Ideas....

That's one of the best themes I've seen. Chips that can get passed down through time with family history tied to it!
I prefer the first banjo $20 (4d14)

Another vote for the 4d14 banjo $20 - with the scallop shaped inlay. Have you considered a standard/round inlay for the quarter?

I think these are magnificent and I can't wait to see the finished product. Well done all around :)

Thank you for the thumbs up....

I have considered round, it was

what I originally started with..

I have purchased a color sample set, although I have almost all the colorsoon my desk at work fromoother chippers sets, so my colors may change after I get that....

Choice of theme is excellent, can't wait to see the finished product.

I think where you're at on the art is pretty good. I'd be tempted to help, but this could become an epic set, so there is only one way to go with it - the J5 direction.

Also, I'd consider making the $1 a butterscotch chip (similar to Las Vegas' Orleans) and keep "Blondie" blonde, or moving Blondie to the $5.

Great theme, and a great start!

Here's my thoughts...

5c - maybe have the stamp in the shape of a pick?
25c - In the current context, this is great. Wouldn't change a thing.
$1 - this one seems a bit too busy for my tastes. As it stands now, the chip progression goes from a simple-but-effective half-pie, skyrockets to the spots on the $1, then simplifies back down to the $5, and again to the $20. Love the colors, but I'd go with a different pattern here.
$5 - I dig it. Many people will say that canary > DG Yellow for a base color. While I don't necessarily agree with that, in this case I do. I think you'll get slightly better contrast between the canary & gray than the DG Yellow. Love the spot/color/inlay selection, though, and overall this chip is very effective.
$20 - Of what you have listed so far, I like the 3rd option the best. Not a huge fan of using dg pink and retro red next to each other like that, nor am I a huge fan of simplifying the spots from the $5 to the $20. Personal preferences, of course, but the pink and the red red are just a bit close on the color spectrum (and the retro red/red combo is extremely close...I'd categorically recommend against using that color combo for the spots) to be used together for spots. I always like dg pink with dg green on a black chip. In this case that would hearken back to your quarter. Some might like that as a nice tie-in to an early part of the set; others hate the idea of reusing spot colors. YMMV.

In any case, I mocked up a few chips incorporating some of the ideas I talked about. Regardless of whether you like my ideas or not, I look forward to seeing the final product and think you've got a really strong start!

I'll be the dissenting voice against spot progression. If you are thinking micro-stakes, that $1 will be the biggest chip typically in play. Slightly larger stakes makes the $1 the workhorse. Why not make it the most awesome chip in the set (also it's a tribute to what I believe was the centerpiece instrument in the shack).

I like the idea of the guitar on the 5 to stay with the Blondie , however, the $1 is my work horse and my favorite chip plus I play guitar also, I am not a fan of the butterscotch... thanks.

@Psypher1000
.5 - I like the pic idea.
.25 - I do love the way this one is, might change inlay to round.
$1 - I love this one, although it skyrockets, it is the workhorse and my favorite out of all. I'll see how I like it maybe 1 less white 1/8 spot.
$5 - I will look at the colors when I get my color sample set.
$20 - I wanted to stay away from using colors I have. There is not many spot options for the 44mm scroll..I wanted to do 3 triple 1/8 to use dg pink dg green and dg peach but I rather have the oversize chip..

thank you for your ideas and comments..

Bump, I need to have someone touch up my Graphics, Color match, and maybe do something with the banjo or piano. I have AI files that I was working, oh and help with font size ect.

If you have the time and you can help please let me know.

Might not hurt to contact @Johnny5 just to get a ballpark on his pricing.

@p5woody might be able to help? :)

I have @p5woody looking at my art, thank you.

Also, after your comments and some from old blue, here is another mock up that is a little less POW but still looks good....

5 cent scroll and 20l?
Simpler edge spot on 1 and 5, What you think?
No shaped inlay on quarter?

here is another mock up that is a little less POW but still looks good....

I like the changes to the 1 & 5. Subtle changes, but as a whole I think they make a large improvement.

For the $20's, I like the middle one the best, followed by #3.

Not sure that I like the scroll for the nickels. It's not entirely out of line since you'll have to use it for the $20. Maybe it's just the type A engineer side of me that wants consistency.

For the quarter inlay, have you considered the clover? If you don't like the clover, I might just stick with round as you have it in these latest mocks.

So far, so good!

I have decided to use canary instead of day glow, but I am still struggling with edge spot design and color, also on the 20..

I love BRIGHT colors on black and I am trying to get red into the mix, I am just not in love with these...Suggestions??

The%20music%20shack%20final%205%20and%2020%20mock%20up.png

Also, I am NOT going to use scroll mold for the 5 cent, (yes the 20 will still be Scroll)..I am also not sure about the color for the nickle....

Ok, I am getting closer to knowing my colors, here is what I have: Still need to decide the 20 edge spots but I think that is it...What do you guys think???
Not sure about Hot stamping the 5 cent but I am leaning towards it....(in silver)

Good choice to go back to the A-mold for the nickles. I think the 3'rd 20 represents best - seems like just the perfect amount of red. Also, love that the inlay on the quarter is "quartered".

I like the 3rd as well, grey on black looks nice and the red pops..
If I dont go with this shaped inlay, ill go round..

Looking good! And really cool back story. Another vote for #3. I like retro red better in person than in the design tool. If your inlay design works with the shaped inlays, definitely go with it.

OK, I have nailed down the Mold's and graphics, I went with the CSQ mold (as it is my favorite) and I have many elements of my family already in it, the A mold is my second favorite, then Scroll.. IF the A mold 44mm was able to be used THAT would be absolutely the way I would go, but we all know THATs NOT happening....So I will go with my favorite and it goes well with Scroll...

What do you all think??

These updates look good. I think making the $ a little smaller and thinner will help to expose more of the instrument. I like the change to CSQ.

A few small changes, but we have a winner.......Here is the FINAL DESIGN thanks to al of you and @p5woody who did an amazing job on the art work....

I will create a post for sample sets in the next week or so, keep your eyes pealed, CSQ mold wont be up and running for about 6 months but it will be worth the wait :D..

The nickel will be SILVER hot stamped...
