Hello all,

Fairly new guy here. I'm curious about these World Poker Series Chips. Does anyone possibly have a set they could post some pics of? I can't find too many pics of them in stacks. Do we call that pr0n around here? Lol. Is that like poker porn then? I couldn't find an explanation of that anywhere... Anyway, if you have these chips, do you like them, etc? I did find them on abc gifts. I really like the classic style and different edge spots. Considering a tourney set. Any info is appreciated. Thank you thank you!

I have samples of those from ABC, and they are very nice ceramic chips imo. Gene will even customize the text, colors, and denominations.

I had a set of those at one point. If I remember correctly I only sold them to fund another purchase. I liked the way they handled/felt/sounded and have considered buying another set. Gene's a good dude, too. He'll definitely take care of you :)

Thanks. Yeah, I am shopping for a "for now" set I guess. I can't seem to make a decision. I have samples of niles, milanos, majestics, veneratis, valentinos, rounders ceramic replicas and the cc pharaohs. Any of the ceramics I have listed compare to them maybe? I can't remember if I ordered any of them from abc or not.

I'd rate ABC's ceramic blanks as much higher quality than the cheaper Nile Club chips (which break easily), and slightly above the Sun-Fly products (Valentino, Rounders). Slightly nicer than the Venerati chips, too - and I'm a big fan of Venerati looks and quality given the price.

A friend of mine has a huge set of these chips, and I like both the colors, feel and how they handle. My only issue with them was that they are a bit slippery, but I guess that is the case for most ceramic chips? Honestly I haven't played with too many other ceramics that I can compare them to, but I do think they are nice. What is the price pr chip for these?

0.65 non-aligned stock
0.80 aligned stock
0.99 custom wording non aligned I think?

Get the aligned chips. Those look like crap with non-aligned edges, imo.

If you go with the 2007 version I think you can get away with unaligned, actually not even sure aligned is an option.

I'm in a very similar position as you when trying to narrow down and decide on some stock sets. I agree with BGinGA's earlier comment. When it comes to stock ceramics, I've ruled out the cheaper Niles and Scrolls. I've also ruled out the Nevada Jack Skulls (very popular) and Saloons as well as the Laurel Crowns because I just don't like them. I've also ruled out the ABC Wicked Spaces and World Player's Club - Jokers (too much going on from a design perspective). I've narrowed it down to the Tiki Kings, NJ Desert Sands, and the Venerati's. I love all 3 of these based on design, feel, and quality. I've been starring at these 3 sample sets for two weeks now and still can't decide. I'll likely choose 1 for an initial cash set and 1 for an initial tourney set before I do anything crazy and start building my own mixed set with the more expensive chips.

I also have Majestics, Milanos, and Pharaoh sample sets but I'm one of the few who prefer ceramics instead (and no worries about lead that I'm aware of).

I really like the Saloon design but didn't get any samples yet. Any particular reason you don't like them?

I thought the feel of the Saloons were very good, very similar to the Nevada Jack Skulls and Desert Sands if memory serves me. However, I thought the design was a little plain (no real graphics) even though the colors are nice and the denominations are easy to read. Really no other reason than that. It's a nice chip. As far as Nevada Jacks go, the Desert Sands is the design that is appealing to me the most (knowing that the quality and material of the Skulls, Saloons, and Desert Sands will be fairly equal) because it sort of looks like a traditional clay casino chip. However, I may be leaning towards the Venerati's and Tiki's as my top two stock ceramic choices. At this point, to answer your question specifically, it is really just coming down to design and personal taste.

Totally agree. I ended up buying the Venerati's, based on discount pricing at the time (along with the lack of a Tiki 5000 chip, which I think has since been rectified).

Another Sun-Fly chip I've always liked are the Dropa discs -- bright colors, with a very unique 3D design. I have a ton of plaques.
