Le Gold Luxury Hotel & Resort is proud to be able to invite you to its poker room!
Le Gold opened its doors in 2019, after years of planning. Finally, your LEGO minifigures were able to get their well deserved vacation. Luxury rooms, ballrooms, and a large movie theatre had been in place since the beginning. However, since gambling is strictly prohibited in their world, it wasn't easy to get a license. Finally, in January 2020, a green light was given for a poker room where tournaments could take place. Alas, by the time the design for the chips was ready in April, covid had hit the factory hard, and these were delayed by half a year. Not a big deal since the hotel had to close as well for a while.
Sales pitch aside, the idea started indeed with a LEGO model of the abovementioned hotel and the need (again that word..."need") for custom chips. Being new to chipping, I learned a lot during the design process which was a long one, with a lot of iterations based on comments and suggestions by this amazing community, until I was happy with the design. I wanted to get the old-school feel of more subdued base colors, while trying to make them shine at the same time. I acquired color samples, took photos of each color and mold to be able to recreate an as-close-to-real representation of the chips on screen, with the ability to play with different combinations of molds, based and spots, and get feedback in real time.
After the order was placed, the Long Wait started, during which I made a matching table, cards and dice, and ended up in the rabbit hole. Then half of the shipment got stolen and eBayed off (which, thanks to David I was able to buy back), so it ended up being a MTT set after all. The quantities below are the original ones before the expansion, not perfect but I was on a budget and it would have worked well for my needs.

What do you get when you mix your love for Legos with your love of poker? You get Le Gold Luxury Hotel and Resort! This set has classy written all over it. Great use of colors without being over the top along with an excellent choice of mold. Also, how fun is it to include a T1 and a T5 into a tourney set?! They are both stunners while adding some versatility. From top to bottom a well executed tourney set that we would all love to have a chance to play with.
