I bought this set from Jim at The Chip Room a while back and love it. I use it as a tournament set for home games and it's great! The set of 1000 chips includes the following:
300 - $1 White
300 - $5 Red
270 - $25 Green
120 - $100 Black
10 - $500 Purple
1 - $1000 Orange (Larger than the rest)

My game is switching to a cash game and I really would like a new set for that with quarters and such. I am debating selling these, but I'm unsure of what I could get for them. I've seen them for sale at Apache (500 for $599). What do you think I could get for these? What chips do you think I should get for my cash game? I was thinking $.25/$1/$5 chips for that set with $.25/$.50 blinds. Thanks guys! First post here!

I'd say 1.00-1.25 a chip is doable, maybe a smidge more on the hundos and up. But since the mass of chips are 1/5, a average of above could happen.

I'll toss out a message to someone with a cash set that would work as you've been talking about. Might help!

Welcome!

The interesting thing is that you pretty much have a good/optimal breakdown for a $0.25/$0.50 NL game with the 300 x $1's and 300 x $5's. All you really need is 100 quarters and you're good to go.

Are you more interested in adding quarters to this set or starting from scratch with a fresh change in sets?

Why not just get some chips to use as quarters with this set..? :coffee:

I'd be willing to, just not sure what quarters to add and I'd kind of like them to match. Don't think there are quarters it there for this set unless I just haven't seen them.

I'm open to both I guess. If I can get a good return on these, I'm thinking I could get a different set since I've had these for quite a while now.

Thanks!

I'd say grab two racks of some hot stamped quarters and you're set.

If you feel like getting a new set, then do that. If you really like this set, get some quarters for it. To have them match find some chips on the same mold in similar condition and ask @Gear to replace the inlays with custom Aztar labels. Baller. :D

Gear labels on some quarters or roulettes would be perfect. Honestly, with that setup for 25/50, you would only need one rack..

Yeah I wondered about how many. My group loves lots of chips on the table though. We usually play a lot of quarters for some reason. We also tend to leave the blinds .25/.50.

Normally, 1s are the workhorse during 25/50... Just need them for change, blinds, and mixed bets. If you like the large pots, then you can always get two racks. I can't imagine any situation where you need more then 2...

Definetly contact @Gear about having labels made up. I'm almost positive he has made some quarters up for this casino already for another member.

If you want a Paulson casino set with matching quarter chips that already exist the list will be small, and the chips will be very expensive and difficult to find!

Yeah I think I'd get two racks... I'll hit up @Gear for labels possibly too.

I'll find out if he has... That would be amazing! I'm torn though because I like the idea of new!

Haha I'm seeing that! I want to get a nice table too, but they are so expensive!

Haha, yea, this site is not a place to come if you want to save money!!!

Check with @T_Chan about tables. Even his basic tables are very nice! With the conversion from CAD dollars to US dollars they are a great value. And depending on where in MIchigan you are located you could find a few others will to buy at the same time and have them shipped to one location to save on shipping charges. I did that with a member here in OH.

I've seen his tables in here... They are beautiful. Was also looking at BBO tables as well.

I had a bbo table, it was alright. Nothing special and had some cheaply done features. I had a friend who did some woodworking and made me one for about 250 that's a ton better. Apparently if someone knows wood, it's not a hard build.

I've thought about making one, but it would prob be crappy. I love the look of LED but I'm not sure how that would look in my house. They seem very nice from BBO... That's the first I've heard they were ho hum.

Gear has made at least blue Aztar quarters, as I have a little more than a rack if them I bought from another member. My relabeled quarters were blue garden city chips, I think. That would work perfectly for you.

You could also buy the brown garden city fives and relabel those, as those are cheap and available. That would let you keep this set for both cash and tourney.

Here's a pic of the blue quarter with gear labels:

Holy crap, those are perfect! Does he just send them to me and I'd just stick them on? Sorry, never done this before...

I will say, I got one nearly 8 years ago. They didn't use speedfelt, just kinda sewing felt. They could have upped there game since then. It was way long ago...

Yeah. He's got several styles of labels. I think these are nonlaminated, which is probably what you'd need if you used casino-used chips. You just stick the label on over the inlay.

I haven't seen the blue chips for sale lately but The Chip Exchange has $5 brown chips with small inlays for less than $60 per rack. You'd probably want to clean them before putting on labels, but those would work.

You could also look for other chips to label. Pretty much anything would work.

Thanks a lot! I sent him a message, so maybe I'll go that route!

Fair warning - BBO is having customer service / product quality issues. Read about it here from two plus two:

You can get a better table from PCF vendors like @T_Chan maybe not the cheapest table option but you'll get something really nice.

Gear offers a range of options from do-it-yourself stickers to full service where he mills your chips, applies the stickers and seals them. I went with the full service approach at a cost of about a buck a chip. Considering you are thinking about one or two racks of chips, I encourage you to take the full service route. There are lots of options for chips - I used solid hot stamped Paulson chips from various sources - pretty much any chip can be repurposed so long as there is an adequate recess to host the label.

Here is a thread where Gear shows how things get done:

I wouldn't sell off a nice set like you already built. You can add-on a rack or so of repurposed fractional chips and be able to spread a nice range of games.

I'll dig around and see what I can find. These chips have the same design pretty much with the Paulson logo?
