Hello everyone I'm new here and new to hosting poker games at my house but I have had tiki king set 600 chips for about 2 years and only used them a hand full of times but now I'm getting invites to more house games and it is time for me to host a couple of games a year.

I bought my first set of Tiki Kings from BP Poker 600 and about 2 years later I found a guy selling Tiki Kings on Facebook marketplace. This would be my first time using Facebook marketplace for chips.

Here are some pictures but I don't know if I have knockoff tiki king's from him or if they are real just a different manufacturer.

The Tiki Kings from BP are clear and smaller image on the face of the chip. Both chips feel the same. However, the BP Black and Reds are much lighter than those I got off of Facebook marketplace.
Also the sides are way different color wise and the yellow tan part of the sides are much longer on the BP poker chips.

What should I do here. On one hand I'm like well fuck it I will play with the 600 chips from BP and then if I need more we can move to the different color chips. But on another hand I feel I get knockoff chips.

Also the chips are slightly different I think, He also sold me the chips really cheap compared to BP poker which also makes me think they are fake.

Would you use these chips in your house game if they are fuzzy and different colors they would main chips?

Has anyone seen this before with Tiki King?

Thanks for the help,
Joe

At first glance, the chips in the shrink wrap are probably Chinese knock offs of the BR Pro "official" chips.

In lieu of having us flip from image to image to figure out what you are talking about, how about you put the two different reds and blacks all in one image. And then do the same showing the different edge stripes?
Sorry about this Bacon Dad, I will do better next time making my point. The chips are packed away and I'm not at my location anymore.

Thank you for the feedback everyone, I will try and see if he will take returns, he seems like he doesn't but I will see what I can do.

Yeah, for sure the shrinkwrap is the giveaway that these are replicas. You'll also notice that the original texture on the BRPro chisp feels like a river rock...smooth but has some grip. The fakes are likely no-mold chips from China and are more of a cross-hatched texture that is more pronounced, and you can feel it if you run the edge of your fingernail against it.
Also, the BRPro chips will have zero spinners, whereas the copies are likely to have quite a few.

This is a big lesson learned and the seller said they are from Germany and that you guys don't know what you are talking about.

I said regardless they are copies of the real chip.

But doesn't look like he will give my money back. Maybe I can go through the CC
Again thanks for the help everyone,

I'm sorry this is a big mess

True, I wouldn't expect a seller on FB Marketplace or Craigslist etc. to accept a refund, and I don't expect the credit card company to protect in person-to-person deals.
However, while they may not be authentic BRPro chips, you could still certainly use them when needed. I have a bunch of no-mold ceramic chips (probably using the same blanks) and they're fine. I'm not saying anyone should search out BRPro copies, but since you've got them, play them!

Well Maybe I have a small leg to stand on.

He sent me his website and I paid through a CC portal just like any online website. The CC people have requested a refund for me that will post in 3 business days and I have 45 days to work with the person who gave me the fake tiki kings.

He said if I ship them back He can give me half my money back.

I said look I will ship them back 38 dollars given the weight, and then also send him the 19 dollars he gave me for 50% shipping. He said the best I can do is half your money back.

Given I was to believe I was getting real Tiki Kings, I was upset and asked for a full refund.

Again thanks for the lesson learned here everyone, I knew the deal of 45c a chip was to good to be true.

Not trying to make this into a reddit post or anything but this was interesting to hear. I reached out to BPpropoker and this is what they said.

"Thank you for your email and I’m sorry to hear about that – I’m pretty sure this is Chip Daddy selling them, right? We have already sent this company a cease and desist letter to stop selling our designs, as we exclusively own them and do not allow anyone else to print the Tiki chips. We make them here in California. We do sell them in packs on Amazon but other than that, anyone else selling them is selling fakes."

Here is what he said to it.

"Hey Joe let me tell you something nobody is lying about nothing first of all I have been doing this a long time I do this on the side I only construction company and I do this as a hobby on the side. This is a side business that I do because I enjoy playing poker so I decided to sell poker chips that I have been selling for over 3 years My website has been up just about 5 to 6 months because people need to purchase chips through the website for a payment system The chips I have are resale chips resale resale resale I do not print or make poker chips that are fakes or counterfeits. It's like when you would buy something and decide to sell it that is exactly what most of these companies do. That poker company you are talking about they only print the design and have made the design themselves which is absolutely understandable but they have yet to send me a patent number or a trademark number so until they send a patent number or a trademark number to me they have no right to tell me what to do with my business. So nobody is lying about anything there are hundreds of manufacturers out there look it up that Make this type of chip it is not my fault again it is not my fault that this company that you just got an email from doesn't have a patent or a trademark to stop people from making his chip. So if I want to continue to sell these type of chips I will do that because I purchased these on the open market like I said I don't print these chips or copyright these chips But anyway are you going to send these chips back to me I already offered you half your money back I'm trying to work with you a little bit on it because I completely understand where you're coming from but you got to understand where I'm coming from also. Thank you let me know please"

Should I let Facebook know? I just don't want others looking for Tiki King chips to get scammed by this.

Based on my experiences of seeing ads on Facebook over the years, it feels safe to say that Facebook doesn’t care that people sell counterfeit knockoff crap on their site.
