I've got a big set of 2005 WSOP Chipco style replicas I've had for a long time. Used them a bunch back in the day and these suckers have held up brilliantly. Last 5-6 years they've just been sitting pretty in their case.

All of the chips are in near pristine condition. I'm a bigger fan of Paulsons compared to these ceramics lately but I will say these chips shuffle like butter. Color and feel of these chips are great. I've been upgrading my sets and shifting to more of a cash game setup so I'm considering selling them. Plus I've also got a slicker set of these chips to boot that I've got squirreled away for myself. I figured I'd put it to the Forum and see what you guys think these could go for per chip? I can't find anyone selling these on the forum or eBay...

Any opinions would be much appreciated!

Cool chips, I haven't seen those before.
I'm no expert, but I'd be comfortable paying a quarter apiece for those, so they're probably worth more than that. I'd guess something less than 50 cents apiece.

Those chips, non-aligned like yours, sell new for .65 apiece, so I would suspect around .50 apiece.

What is the breakdown? I'm interested.

$25 Chips (Green and Yellow) - 100
#100 Chips (Black and White) - 100
$500 Chips (Pink and Black) - 50
$1000 Chips (Yellow and Black) - 505
$5000 Chips (Light Purple and Blue) - 350
$10,000 Chips (Black and Tan) - 375
$25,000 Chips (Red and Black) - 20
$50,000 Chips (Beige and Brown) - 129
$100,000 Chips (Royal and White) - 70

Grand total of 1699 Chips

Where can you still buy these retail? Or are you talking peer to peer sales? I'm interested because I have a big set of the "WPS" ones as well that are aligned and have more of a bud jones feel to em.

My apologies, I confused them with the WPS chips from ABC Gifts and Awards.

Considering the difference in chips, I'd say it would be a bit higher than my previous estimate, but as always it depends on finding a buyer!

I have a set of the 2004s and a set of the 2005s. In the time I've been chipping, neither has ever sold for more than 75 cents apiece in any quantity over ten, afaik.

Considering new full custom ceramic cost about .70 each, I wouldn't pay more than .50 for a used existing set.

I know you dont notice it after awhile but aesthetically they're annoying

New custom ceramics don't come with a history connected to the WSOPs, especially those two years

But they are replicas, not the actual WSOP chips. I have played with these chips and ones like them before, I don't think there was any special affinity to them. But other may and if so may pay a premium for it.

If these were genuine WSOP chips I could understand that but these are replica's so I think value can't really be added for being tied to the WSOP much more then a new set of these exact chips from OWPS or GOCC would be if they made another set today.

Of course they're replicas. But they are special replicas in the history of CT and thence PCF. They were, iirc, the second ever CT group buy, in late 2005 (delivered in December).

And the 2004 and 2005 replicas were notable for their coincidence to Chris Moneymaker's and Greg Raymer's wins, and the explosion in popularity of NLHE poker.

BTW, the 2004s were my first decent poker chips, following assorted dice chips, etc.

I had a small set of these; sold most of 'em to Larry @pltrgyst - they were pretty chips, even with the non-aligned edges (which I could NEVER live with today, I don't think).

The original WSOP 25K red/black chip is one of my favorites, but this Chipco version has the worst red ink bleed/transfer I've ever seen on any chip, ever. All red Chipco chips are prone to this, but this CPS version would bleed red ink across the white face, onto other chips just sitting in racks, even onto your hands from just lightly playing with them. Pretty much killed off Chipco as a potential manufacturer of any of my chip sets.

If I were wanting to create a tribute set of those older Bud Jones WSOP chips today, the no-brainer approach would be to use the Sun-Fly hybrid blanks with aligned edges and glossy recessed labels. Would make for a stunning tournament set, and could probably even get decent traction as a PCF group buy.

Well, excuse my language, but fuck a bunch of CT history and the horse's ass we all rode on over there. Lots of reasons to like these chips, but that one is NOT on my list.

Very nice set! I bought a rack of samples of the "World championship poker" version of these. IIRC they were 2004 WSOP replicas. BG is right in saying these chips bleed...take a look at them! :( Glad I never bought a large set of these. Your set looks like they held up well.

Jeez, Dave, It's not CT, it's the people who were there and are now here on PCF -- which is most of us.

Next thing you know, you'll be launching a tirade against the state of Connecticut.

Value = $0

Sorry, but who really cares about a now dead poker boom, or who kicked it off? Moneymaker's fame is directly linked to a $40 online tournament - something most Americans cannot participate in anymore (and if DOJ nominee Jeff Sessions gets his way, no Americans will be able to, as he has said in senate hearings he will revisit the DOJ ruling that allowed individual states to legalize online poker).

Value = $0

This is the true value of these chips. Much better than dice chips (<1¢). Better quality than China Clay (40¢), though individual preferences prevail here.

The WSOP uses completely different chips now. How many people would want a design that is outdated? Sure, if you have a collection of all WSOP-inspired chips, and you somehow didn't buy a 2003 replica (at a time when poker chip sites flourished on the internet), then these have greater value.

Finally, poker chips breakdowns are somewhat personal. What worked for you may not work for another buyer, and that cuts down your possible demand. I might list these at 50¢ a piece, but would happily accept any offer of 45¢ per, and might even settle for 40¢ if they remain unsold for a while.

Thanks for the info everyone. Glad to hear all the opinions. If I decide to list them I'll put a post here.
