Thought I had an amazing find but went to see them in person and they had a different mold than I was expecting - not the THC but kind of a half flower mold. In re-reading the ad and our email communications he was very cagy NOT to say they were Paulsons and never sent a close up photo of the chips so buyer beware a bit.

Looked like these:
http://pokerchipset.cricket/casino-...poker-chip-set-of-60-1-5-25-100-500-1000.html

But they were in decent enough shape (not mint like he described) if someone is looking for a huge set.

They look like the BCC version. Accurate price at $0.75 in my opinion.

Nice job on following up on an ad with no pic. I don't even read them, but there are definitely some treasures buried in them.

Good find (even if you didn't buy them)!

@pokerplayingpisces that ad looks like it's right down the street from Mikey......????

Those would be the Flame mold BCC version I believe, depending on use/wear, 75c/chip is probably a good ballpark...and he is open to offers I guess.
Too bad he's not asking $100.........

Good find though, I must have missed it due to no images....like @MegaTon44 :)

Thanks... and also good to know I didn't just walk away from something rare and amazing. That might have stung for a while.

Here's a pic he sent me after a day of emails back and forth.

Those chips look in great shape, along with some cool cases. That's the type of deal that you hope would come along for $200 or less.

They are nice chips. Not Paulsons, but not crap, either. If the PAULSON MOLD versions are selling for $3 each, these are worth at least half that. Flame mold >>> GPI house mold imo.

I'm a bit of a chipper rookie, but they seemed a little lighter than I expected (compared to my limited Paulson experience). He did drop a bit on the price for anyone who's interested pursuing. (but No, not down to $200)

I paid .80 per chip direct from Mike Endy @ BCC for the later edition new formula CDI. The new formula and production made them heavier and the inlays were perfectly round. Previous production runs were destined to have high % of mishaped / stretched inlays. By the looks of the colors on the 1000 and 25 chips, these are from earlier production runs but at the right price these are great chips and great set that looks like it can handle cash games and tourneys

So I picked these chips up last night! I saw the ad without the pictures and ignored it originally. Then he added the pictures that he took for BSteck to the ad, and that's when I took note of them and sent him a message. I was surprised that no one here had already snagged them since we have a lot of PCF members in Denver, and then I found this thread while I was researching the chips. I looked them over last night and he came down to a price that I thought was reasonable, so I took them home. I started sorting through them at lunch today.

He said he bought them about 500 chips at a time over a long period, and there is a mix of the early chips (misshapen inlays) and later chips (rounder inlays). I'm sorting them by early/late now, and the breakdown seems to be at least 2/3rds of the later, better chips. One other difference is that the early inlays are textured, and the later ones are smooth. I like the feel of the textured ones better. Too bad they look like they were cut out by a preschooler (I was going to say kindergartner, but I have a kindergartner and she can cut better than this!). Here's a shot of two early and two late chips. They also have some color variations on the $5s and $25s, but not major.

I should have my new poker table finished soon, so maybe I can get these in play next month!

Edit: Only bad news is that 2 of the $5 chips are missing. Anybody have 2 extras?

The misshapen inlays are not a product of not being cut perfectly round after printing -- the process used to make the chips actually caused the inlays to stretch during the compression operation.

The specific culprits were never publicly identified, but potential causes include the melting temperature of the inlay material itself, temperatures and/or pressures used during compression, and not adequately affixing the inlay prior to compression (to help prevent movement).

Those cases are garbage. Not great wood and the latches and hinges are not up to the task, needed to be replaced on mine.

I don't disagree. I had 3 shipped to me before and 2 were broken. I only go for the heavy, old school wood cases now. However, I believe folks like them for the wood racks, which is why I try to alert folks when they pop up.

Yeah, the cases are pretty beat up, but fixable. The wood trays are nice except that they take stacks of 25 chips instead of 20.

Very nice set. Good pick up
