Odd number right? 240 chips? I run a lot of fundraiser poker where I distribute 30 chips per player at 8 player tables for T5000 tournies:
12 x T25
12 x T100
5 x T500
1 X T1000
I made some wood chip cases for myself which have 10 rows of 60 chips each, but trying to distribute these chips is cumbersome as I have to split each row into 2. Trying to get my fingers between the two stacks is impossible. The tables I use are also 8 player tables, so one of my old chip racks was good for 2.5 tables. I've decided to make some chip racks that make it easier to distribute chips to players, I can essentially plunk down 1 rack per table and let the players grab their own chips, or go around with 1 rack per table and easily distribute 1 row per player.
They're stackable which is great. The last thing I need to do is to add some handles so they're easier to pick up, or carve out a groove in the sides as recessed handles.
The core is spruce which is what I used to mill the grooves, the outside trim pieces are oak. The sides are essentially scraps I found around my shop. I didn't have quite enough so I had to glue some scraps together to get enough height on the chip trays. I've made about 7 of them so far but need to get about a dozen of them in total.
