A friend is hosting and has asked for tourney structure help. Both tourney's will be using the same chips which are listed below.

Both tourney's will have 9-12 players.

Starting stacks will be 100k.

Chip denominations are 500, 1,000, 5,000, 25,000, and 100,000

Looking 20 minute blinds.

NLHE Tourney with a 4 hour time limit. One rebuy

5 Card Draw tourney 2-3 hours.

Should there be antes and blinds in the draw tourney?

Any input would be awesome.

Thanks,

Bill

Never ran a 5-card draw tournament, so really can't help you there. I'll put something together later today for the 100k NLHE event.

Thanks. I think he is going to cancel the draw game. Save it for cash

T100K tournament (100BB)
12 players, 20-minute blind levels

lvl sb bb
L1 500 1000
L2 1000 2000
L3 1500 3000

L4 2000 4000
L5 3000 6000
L6 4000 8000
~ break
L7 6000 12000
L8 8000 16000
L9 12000 24000
~ remove T1000 chips
L10 15000 30000
L11 20000 40000
L12 30000 60000 ***
L13 50000 100000
L14 75000 150000
~ remove T5000 chips
L15 100000 200000
L16 150000 300000
L17 200000 400000

Tournament will typically end no later than Level 12 (4:00 plus breaks). To finish the tournament in a four-hour max window with 10-minute breaks, set blind levels at 18 minutes..

Recommended 100K stacks:
10 x T500
10 x T1000
7 x T5000
2 x T25K
------------
29 chips = 100K

For re-buy stacks, I'd use 10 x T5000 and 2 x T25000 chips.

The 100K chips probably won't be needed. Use 25K chips to color-up the T500 and T1000 chips (only 8 needed, total) and use T100K chips to color-up the T5000s if the event runs long (only 5 needed). If the event ends by L12, there will be between 116-152 chips on the table (assuming up to 3 re-buys total).

Personally, I'd run it with 200K stacks (200BB) and 15-minute blind levels. That finishes by L14 and ends in less than four hours, breaks included. Add 4 x T25K chips to the starting stacks.
