Any updated recommendations for a decent quality (.50/ea range) chip that actually has a 5 cent option? I'm learning I'm in an odd category of a player who doesn't mind upgrading from super cheap sets, but still hosts micro stakes games which need the nickel lol. So far the Apache Majestic seems to win out but I'd like as many options to research as possible. My favorite casino chip to mimic are the Paulsons of from Foxwoods

Customs are the only way to go! You won't pay much more than 50cent a chip and you're getting exactly what you want, how you want it. Take your time and get samples, don't just buy something because it has nickels.

IMO depends on your potential future chip goals as well. If you see yourself going clay down the road, get a 43mm web mold set.

Your suggestion from what route to go from where?
I’m in a similar situation as you - upgrading from cheap chips for a micro stakes game (.10/.20). I got samples from members here and decided to go for the Web mold hybrid ceramic through Broken Arrow like @NotRealNameNoSir said. They do the group buys most months I believe. @Okku is helping out with the art file on my custom order.

Take your time. Purchasing customs from here are the way to go, either in large groupbuys or working with a designer. Look up Broken Arrow on here, or talk to @mattross1313 , he helped me design mine.
I always just assume custom means more than I'd like to pay lol

Thanks for the response! What is your pricing coming in at? And how much are samples?

If you’d go here and read around you most likely will answer all of your questions. There are price lists, chips selections, sample purchase options, links to other molds at similar prices, etc…..

This is great stuff! One thing that isn't clear to me is that $80 charge per order- is that only for custom art inlay/molds, and the pre-designed ones are just at the quoted rates per chip (plus estimated shipping fees)? So many options it's nauseating. Also how do these sun molds for example compare to something like Apache Majestic? I didn't see gram weight

It's an $80 setup fee for the labels. It is split between the people who are ordering the same label set, so if four people order the Panda KGBs then they each pay $20 of the setup fee.

Thank you! Is there a tax on top?

If you don't want to pay the $80 label fee, then you can always order no-mold sets.

They are slightly cheaper than the web or Greek mold and no label fee, but they are not as nice. Still, I think they are a viable alternative to China clays.

However, if it were me and owning both, I would bite the bullet and pay extra for the hybrids (web, Greek) and the label fee. They are a bit nicer.

Thanks! I'm kind of confused which ones in this link do not include an $80 label fee- just the ones that don't have the card mold design on edge? Do they still come with $ amount labels on chip? I'm debating getting the Stardust ones anyways, which has a $0 label fee anyways. Is the quality any different from the card mold compared to web? Or just preference? I've read the entire 10 page thread and am still a little confused on pricing lol. Also are these all about 10g?

You could just ask @justincarothers unless for some reason you want to continue to plod along here getting answers from people that kinda know.

Is there some reason why you just want others to do your work for you or does @justincarothers have you blocked?

Textured no-mold and cards mold were the first ones that were offered and are full printing on the chip. There is no label fee since there is no label. The hybrids are sun, web, and Greek mold and have a label applied to the center. Those have the $80 label fee.

My no-molds are 10.1g and web mold hybrids are 9.2g.

Lol fair. Sorry! I guess cuz I'm such a noob I was just asking the abyss. Plus I haven't hit my three days yet so don't have full posting ability and didn't wanna get on a naughty list (which seems to be backfiring ironically).

The no-molds are great chips, but if you can swing the cost (extra per chip and label fee) the hybrids are definitely superior, imo.
