What would be the best breakdown for a 500chip torunament set if i want to play a 9max table (deepstack+1 rebuy) or two 8max tables +1 rebuy? I could possibly buy 50 more chips if needed.

Im thinking something that gives me for 16players T15k (8,8,3,3,2) and T30k 9p (12,12,5,4,4) [need 25 more T1000] :

T25: x150

T100: x150

T500: x50

T1000: x50 (+25 for T30k)

T5000: x100

Way too many T5000s and wonky breakdown. Bump it up to 600:
160/160/80/140/60. Good for up to 20 players T10,000 plus rebuys.
Honestly there are too many T5000 cause i like the chip alot XD
Oh and btw must buy in rolls of 25 (iron bank Group buy)

I'm no expert like @BGinGA so take this with a grain of salt, but since you'll never start with more than 12x 25s and 100s, then I would lower those to 125 each and up your 1000s to 100.

I'm also looking at a ~400 chip set (for single table T10,000 or T15,000 with a few rebuys), and right now I'm currently at:
T25 x 125
T100 x 125
T500 x 75
T1000 x 75
T5000 x 25
Bounty x 25

Total 450

By the way, I was in San Sebastian a long time ago and loved the area! :)

I too have been looking at a single-table tourney set and here's what I'm settling in on. Following @BGinGA 's standard T10k 12/12/5/6 set of
T25 x 120
T100 x 120
T500 x 60
T1000 x 80
T5000 x 20
Total 400

and rounding up for full sleeves of 25 gives:
T25 x 125
T100 x 125
T500 x 75
T1000 x 100
T5000 x 25
Total 450

adding another sleeve of 500's so I can do 12/12/7/5 starting stacks if desired gives:
T25 x 125
T100 x 125
T500 x 100
T1000 x 100
T5000 x 25
Total 475

The last 25 I might do as bounty chips or more 100's so I could possibly use it as a cash set in a pinch.

Or I might go with T2000 chips instead of T1000 and T5000 (12/12/5/3 starting stacks) to get it done in less chips (blasphemy!). That would be:
T25 x 120
T100 x 120
T500 x 60
T2000 x 40
Total 340

and rounding up for full sleeves of 25 gives:
T25 x 125
T100 x 125
T500 x 75
T2000 x 50
Total 375
Plus 25 bounty chips would be 400

Keep in mind that the T500 chip becomes much more important when using a T2000 chip -- more of them are required, and they will stay in play much longer. I recommend 12/12/9/2 starting stacks, and using T2000 chips for color-ups.

Ah yes, now I see... the thousands aren't there to cover the 1k, 3k, 5k etc blinds so you need the extra 500's. Thanks for the correction (as usual, the best answer is always a few more chips). So 12/12/9/2 stacks would lead to a 120/120/100/40 full barrels set? Or 125/125/100/50 rounded to sleeves of 25?

Has anyone put together a comprehensive guide or sticky post for these typical scenarios? I think I do a good job of searching and reading everyone's answers to these common questions but I still seem to be off a bit. Sometimes the 'right' answer seems to be buried on page 3 of a thread. Or maybe each person's situation and preferences are too unique to come up with a generally accepted chippers guide.

Absolutely correct. You will need 20x T2000 for the starting stacks, and 8 more to color-up the T25 and T100 chips -- and typically filling it out with more T2000 chips offers the most flexibility.

120/120/100/60 = 400 chips, with enough T2000 chips for re-buys or larger starting stacks (and it all fits neatly in four racks). Or you can add a barrel of T10000 chips instead (120/120/100/40/20), although you only need 5 x T10k chips to color-up the T500s (and it's rare for it to play that long with only a single table or just T10K starting stacks).

Has anyone put together a comprehensive guide or sticky post for these typical scenarios?
No, but there are a few things under development. Stay tuned....

Changed my mind about trying to fit 16 players in my home game.
Looking for a T30000 10player +1 rebuy breakdown, something like this for a (12,12,5,6,4) game:

T25 x 125
T100 x 125
T500 x 50
T1000 x 75
T5000 x 100
? x 25 (maybe bounty chips)

I'd recommend using T1000 chips to color-up the T25/T100 chips -- as a workhorse chip in the middle and later levels, you will want/need more than 60 of them in play as the tournament progresses. Extras can be used for bonus chips or re-buys if needed.

75 x T5000 will be plenty, as it covers starting stacks (40) plus T500 color-ups (10) and up to four re-buys (24).

125 xT25
125 x T100
50 x T500
100 x T1000
75 x T5000
25 x no-denom (T25k, bounty, or re-buy chips)

Bingo. I was going to post you probably want more T1000s than T500s, and also more T1000s than T5000s. But @BGinGA beat me to it.

A couple reasons are that the T1000s become the workhorse chip in the middle/late stages of a T10000 tournament. And the T500 chips are less important if there's a T500 to T1000 progression (this is the only time the next chip is only 2x the previous chip, so you need less of them.) versus a T2000 chip denomination.
