Breakdown:
  • 254 - 5cent
  • 127 - 10cent
  • 188 - 25cent
  • 69 - $1
  • 37 - $5
Seems like not the ideal breakdown!

Two bucks apiece seems a little high for these.
@Apache has a couple of 500 chip sets for $800 each, if anybody's interested.

Just in case anyone is considering buying this set for certain denoms, then selling off the rest, I wouldn't recommend this approach unless you plan to take a decent loss. The typical going rate for these on PCF has been around $0.75, and I recently sold these chips between $0.40 - $0.60 each. Not to dissuade you in the least if that doesn't matter to you, but if you were banking on recouping some costs, it may be a losing proposition.

Every set of these (and the BCC versions) that I've ever seen (or bought, or sold) have had really screwy denomination breakdowns. Always odd quantities of chips, and never any kind of logic that made sense of the collection of chips. It's almost unique to these particular sets, and bizarre how it seems to be common to every one.

Have always wondered how they were sold initially,, what people were buying these for, or what they ended up doing with them (if the numbers reflect lost chips)?

You're night. Every set seems to have nickels AND dimes. I'm surprised this one doesn't have quarters AND half-dollars too.
The pic of my carousel I posted the other night has a barrel each of dimes and half-dollars, just to color the picture up a bit, but you can bet when I'm playing with them, it's strictly nickels, quarters, and dollars.

At least the Paulson Fan Of Cards set has the Royal in the right order. The BCC set (and every other copy) has that messed up card order A,J,Q,K,10 (legalities). o_O

Apparently they were popular, there are tons of them out there. I think most people that bought them probably played nickle, dime, quarter games.

If I decided to build on this set, I'd go for nickel/dime/quarter. I know the dime isn't necessary, but that's the stakes I play with family and it beats the crap out of using actual change.

It's way more likely I'll just sell the rack of quarters I have once I get tired of looking at it next to chips that aren't at all similar.

I actually was pleasantly surprised with the feel and sound of them though.

What do you have? I'm looking for $5's, if you're looking to get rid of any of those.

Perhaps the style + low limits indicate newer players, which could indicate less experience in proper chip breakdown.

Right now I just have a rack of quarters. They were purchased as a stand-in until I could label some for another set, but I haven't even used them and they're already bothering me.

My options are sell them now, or seek out more chips to build a micro set. Generally people around here advocate buying more chips.
