I was randomly scrolling thru a list of apps that weren't on my iPad, and saw Blinds Up, I haven't used it in 3 years, but out of boredom I clicked on it and to my complete shock the store showed version 3 was released a few weeks ago.

I had another thread on this app years ago so thought I'd start a new one about this version. Anyone who used the original Blinds Up will probably remember it as a good app that looked nice. Myself and other people who used it commented in my original thread that it unfortunately went to crap when the author updated it. He killed the old version, and the "new" one was incredibly buggy. And he switched it from an app you could buy to a subscription. A subscription isn't terrible if the app's good. But the 2.x versions were far worse than the original. It was buggy, would crash and just generally felt like a huge step back from the original.

I have not used the new 3.0 yet, and the subscription went up. It was $4.99 a month, now it's $9.99 a month or $99 a year. As much as I don't like to be negative, I couldn't stand the 2.x versions after the changes. But the original version was beautiful and worked fantastic. I can't comment on this one yet, but based off the change log, it looks like a ton of work was put into it. I think most of us who used the 2.x versions just assumed the author had abandoned it. Anyone here who used the older version should at least look into this. Like before, there's a free version with some of the features missing. I hope people here try it out. I'm trying to be positive, maybe with the years between updates he got inspired to fix it. Some of the new features

iCloud syncing
Dark Mode support
resolution so it will look right on the latest devices
AI generated voices so you can make custom voices for announcements
new control panel
new templates
iOS 18 compatible
and it mentions some bugs were fixed

At least from the log, it sounds like he put in some good work on this version. I'm really hoping the bugs from the last 3-4 have been fixed. I loved the original, but the last 4-5 updates made it borderline unusable for me. It definitely wasn't something I'd ever use in a serious tournament. I'll be thrilled if this is tournament ready.

If anyone tries it, please post what you think. I'm gonna go play with it and see what all I can do with the free version. And I'll probably pay for a month so I can see all the features and find out if it's buggy or not. IMHO this was by far the best looking poker timer/tourney software. And it had a good feature set, it might not have been nearly as powerful Tournament Director, but that needs a computer, and as much as it could do, it was ugly as heck and looked like a program from 1991 lol.

IF he fixed the bugs and it runs like the 1st version, I'm absolutely fine paying $99 a year.
