ABC/BR Pro and Sunfly Ceramics? (1 Viewer)

I can't speak for what Gene is doing today, but prior to the BRPro buy-out, ABC offered both Sun-Fly and their own blanks (more square-edged with greater surface friction). The Chipco offerings came after the PGI asset buy, I believe.

We don't offer the Sunfly smooth blank, only our ABC smooth blanks (which are used for ABC/BR Prol) and blanks from the old chipco mold. BR Pro chips prior to our acquisition in 2016 were on Sunfly blanks. The Valentino rights were shared between Sunfly and BR Pro - the Valentino chips manufactured from Sunfly will not match the chips from us.

Last week I ordered sample sets of the ceramic chips: Classic Bold and Lucky Dragon. I received the chips yesterday. I like the general look of the Classic Bold, and I wanted to see how the numbers on the chip edge, on the Lucky Dragons, look. I like the texture of the chips' surface. Are these chips good representatives of the general look, sharpness of graphics and color saturation, and surface texture of custom ceramic chips I may order from you through the BR Pro Poker site?

Did you get your samples from BR Pro?

Yes I did. The delivery was very prompt, almost like next day express. I really like the way they feel. They have flat parallel faces that are non-skid without feeling gritty. I like the look of the Classic Bold. I'm working on a set design similar to the Classic Bold. Dragons aren't my thing, but I wanted to see how the numbers on the edges looked. The edge numbers are legible, but I'm not sure I will incorporate that feature in my design.

I was so excited about how much I liked the quality of the samples I received that I got impatient and started a "conversation" with Gene to get my question above answered. He said the samples are representative of what I would get from BR Pro, except of course for design and colors, if I placed an order for custom chips.

Right now I'm using cheaper chips, Claysmith the Mint, which replaced dice chips that were given to me, for currency in board games. I'm not a poker player, but poker chips are a lot easier to handle than paper money. Earlier this year I started into the 18xx genre. These games can easily have 500 transactions in a single game, and it's very helpful to be able to count everyone else's money from across the table. So I'm intending on using the set I'm working on for 18xx games and other board games.
