A smaller than normal night last night with 8 folks. Was proud to be in the final 3 with my sons. We played 3 way for 4 levels. Just the 3 of us. And the dog. Ended up chopping the pot with my youngest after 1am. His second cash in a row against formidable adult competition.

Speaking of which, @Knoxymoron continues to impress our group with his consistent strong and thoughtful play.

Well done. Our weekly offering goes to its monthly lifeform tonight with Event II in our Club Championship Series.

Our son Zack, who ran a small game in college the last four years, was part of the three action last month in the inaugural tourney while dad bubbled.

Always fun to watch our younger players hold their own.

Great job.

How old were your kids when you let them have their first poker game for real money?

I have been hosting for all of both of their lives for the most part. They just started playing this year. They are 15 and 21. If it were high stakes I wouldn’t invite either of them in. My younger guy especially really looks forward to our every other week games… partly because he is competitive, but he really enjoys the group of guys. He also, oddly, looks forward to “pokerizing” the house.

Both my boys are A students… excel in math, both are active in athletics, so they have that perfect mix of competitive drive, beyond ‘common’ math and analytical sense and because they are half Jewish they have that risk averse nerve that a lot of new players lack.

Safe to say they have both earned the respect of much more experienced players in our group. The younger ones game is especially strong and remarkably egoless.

Like yours, my son is a good kid and good student, but he's only 10 and he's growing more and more interested in the home games I'm throwing.
I play occasionally with him but I'm starting to feel it's gonna be hard keeping him from really wanting to join.
I was vaguely considering letting him play a couple hands, but I realised that if luck strikes and he wins a couple euros, he's gonna get hooked a bit too strongly to my taste and believe money can flow effortlessly. No money game before long, son :)
But tonite I was doing some custom chips design, he asked me how to do it. He toyed with CPC design tool and it came out pretty great :) He wanted the spots and shaped inlay to align with the skull. I might have raised a monster :))))

10 seems young but it’s just a number. Teach him, as I’m sure you have, about responsibility and risk/reward, and all that happy shit and you’ll be fine. Take things slow but don’t stifle it… if that makes sense.

Glad your last get together went well. I'm going you try to make it to another one as soon as I can, as long as I'm still invited :)

Can't express enough what a great group of players this is. Fun to be around and very welcoming. I hope to attend many more tournaments! And congrats to you and your boys for dominating to the very end.

DM. I met you through Facebook before realizing this was you on PCF
