TL;DR I'm looking for a breakdown of what happens during each round in Casino Royale, with insights into characters and strategies.

Hi fellas!

I'm still pretty new to the forum, I created my account a while back but I was unable to practice/play any poker due to school. I just finished watching Casino Royale and I was wondering if there are any videos out there that break down each of the rounds. I'm especially interested in learning about each character's behavior and strategies (what happens psychologically), and how that translates in the actual mechanics of the game (what happens physically).

If you're having trouble understanding what I mean, there's an example. If you've seen Dead Man's Chest from Pirates of the Caribbean, you'll probably remember the Liar's Dice scene with Davy Jones, Will Turner, and Bootstrap Bill. A Youtuber called Lord Ravenscraft made a video explaining the mechanics of the game (the dice roll probabilities), and the behavior of each character (specifically how their strategy matched their personality).

I don't know if this is too much to ask or it doesn't exist, but I figured it would be worth a shot to ask folks around here. Thanks y'all!

I love Liar's Dice, probably my favorite game! But no, Casino Royale is a great movie with questionable poker scenes.

I think you'd be better served watching or reading about actual poker strategy, then coming back to laugh at Casino Royale strategies. There is nothing to be learned there other than get incredibly lucky, and don't have super obvious tells if you're playing for millions.

I can tell you that almost none of the final.four players' strategies make much sense at all. It was just written quickly.

I see, that's such a shame, since Casino Royale is one my favorite James Bond movies. Sounds like I'm better off learning more about strategies. I've heard Rounders is quite decent, so I might watch that one instead.

Also, I did end up finding an analysis that breaks it down step by step, which was really helpful, though it ultimately came to the same conclusion you guys have. Here is the link:

(in case I can't post links just look up Daniel T. Kelly, Casino Royale)
