Im looking for some chip racks with lids for my new RHC hot stamp set. Is there a consensus on which rack works best for 39mm RHC chips? I know I saw some comments that the Matsui have some wiggle room and the Apache were an improvement on that for the 39mm chips, but then I saw Tina was also making some. Just wanted to check in before I order them.

Thanks all!

Justin’s racks are the bomb.

I switched all my sets from Paulson racks to Apache racks (inserts where needed) to Justin racks.

I have not found better racks than Justin’s. thc/RHC are a tight fit and they stack beautifully.

Apaches and matsui racks hold 43mm pretty well but 39mm are very loose in both. Even with the inserts.

Justin racks 39mm and 43mm are the way to go

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll go ahead and order some Justins tonight and take advantage of the Labor Day sale.

The Justin racks are great. Especially if you’re using them in an Apache case.

When you keep your racks sideways like that do you have each rack wrapped in a rubber band or anything? I mean Justin rack tops & bottoms don't really "lock together" in any way... they more kind of just "fit together." So do you not worry about the rack opening when you go to lift them out of - or put them back into - the Apache case? Knowing my clumsy ass I'd go to put a rack back in the case, accidentally open the rack somehow when I turned it sideways to fit it in, and all 100 chips would proceed to tumble everywhere. LOL

The case is stored and carried standing up. This means the chips are on their side. They’re only standing up like that when you open the case to use them. The weight of the chips keeps the racks closed. In fact, the chips settle into the foam. You have to loosen the racks to access them.

I use tina racks now for my Paulsons. Don't have to worry about the fit and stability when stacking racks and it keeps the trays from resting on the chips of the rack below. I've been transferring my sets over. I found Apache racks to be a little too loose of a fit for my Paulsons. Although I still have a couple of Apache racks in use.

My Tina no mold chips are in chipco racks still though.

But I'm pretty new to all this, so I defer to the opinion of more experienced individuals.

I use Justin racks for storage and for traveling in a case like @Timmah. I do put hair band around them which doesn't affect stacking but does keep them from separating enough for any chips to come out as an added measure. You can buy them on amazon and they won't snap like a rubber band.

Question about the Justin racks - I was told that the 39 mm and 43 mm racks are different sizes. Can you stack both together and do they both fit in a bird cage?

i can fit 10 matsui racks in a bird cage holding both 39 and 43 mm. Can I do the same with Justin racks?

They do stack and the 43mm do fit in a birdcage with the slightest of clearance.

For 39mm to stack on top of 43mm you need the adaptor that someone here 3dprints

Does anyone have a pic of what the adaptor looks like and what it looks like all put together in a bird cage?
I don't own a birdcage but here's a few links to pics of them.

You can get them shipped with the racks here, or through me by sending one of us a pm what you need.

I make small rack pullers that fit exactly under these racks to help pull them up and out of a case. @Timmah may have some good pics in action already posted here somewhere.

I also make a similarly designed item for keeping the racks from separating during transport if rubber bands aren't your preferred method. I don't have pics of those at the moment tho.

Thanks, I have a 3800 myself, so trying to figure out how many of these racks I can fit. I like the idea of the inserts! Didn’t know it was an option! The foam takes up a decent amount of space
There’s still foam under the racks and inserts. You can also make a fully customized one at mycasebuilder.com
