To make short story long...

Since it seems tough to find real deals on quality chips—almost everyone knows the value of everything today, between eBay and Google—I have resorted to alternate methods of hunting. Here is an example, which eventually leads to my question.

I noticed a very expensive poker table on sale in a Facebook group. The seller indicated that it belonged to a spouse or relative; it seems to be part of an estate sale. The seller seems to know little about poker, and have even less interest in finding out. (Perfect!) I took a shot, and said that while I wasn’t in the market for a table, I wondered if there were any poker chips that went with it...

After a very long wait—she wasn’t at the location for several weeks—the table seller finally messaged back to say that she has a small box of chips (no details or pics yet) plus some “Trump Marina” chips.

I indicated initially that I had no interest in the Trump Marinas... But then I realized that they might have some value, given certain recent events.

Looking on eBay, I can’t really get a fix on the market for these. And I still don’t know how many she has, what denominations, etc. But before I pursued it further, I figured I’d throw the question out here.

Also, feel free to hijack the thread for political argument... [jk]

I would get more information. I don't think having Trump's name on them is going to increase their value, but if they are $5 chips and she wants $1 each for them, hell yes, there is value there. Being an Atlantic City casino, they will always retain face value. Off the top of my head I can't think of any T.Marina chips that are uber sought after, but I could be wrong.

I guess I was wondering (hoping?) some kind of secondary market for these chips might have arisen—beyond poker chip aficionados—given that the owner of the casino has had a change of status in the past year.

From what youve written, it sounds like she has a small handful of Trump chips, so the question might be almost moot.

The Trump chips with his picture have gone up in value a little. The rest seem to be about the same as any other AC chip of similar denomination.
