Yes, you are reading that correctly, the plaque says, "PLO Flips!" This is actually in the mix of games and is quite simply a game that requires zero skill. Everyone throws $10k into the pot and gets four cards. The dealer runs out a full board and the best hand takes the cake. It's just the one hand, UNLESS someone in the game pays $1000 to do an additional flip. In this case, everyone but that player would have positive equity to take on this gamble. It's pretty fun and overall I think it was good for the game.

I would love to know the record for number of flips someone had paid for in a row. If that game with that condition has been in play for a substantial amount of time, I would set the over/under at 12.

I agree with negreanus assessment in that NL holdem is almost solved, but more importantly than that, its boring AF. Id rahter play the mixed games but at stakes im comfortable with to learn first. only problem with that is that no places offer games at the stakes i need to learn and you cant play them online either anymore ;(

that the best players in the world have found the most exploitive approach and optimal way to play the game, meanwhile no one is really working on strategies on how to beat baduga and 2-7 triple draw. there are so many forms of poker, yet the world seems obsessed with NL holdem
Just wait until you get dealt quad aces, pot every street, and hope no one makes a straight flush.

Somewhere in the first month of playing PLO on pokerstars this happened to me, luckily it was only .5-$1 PLO
And as long as there's 4 of a kind on the board, you'll have the nuts
No the trick is to wait until you have 4 aces in your hand that way no one suspects anything.

All of them are "good" starting hands. Well, at least until the flop comes.
Now you need to play Double board PLO
My approach was consistent with this. I was the only person playing pretty much every hand, which wasn't a particularly successful strategy. Very low stakes though.
No chance I could introduce PLO to my group though. Dealing 4 cards would mean we get even fewer hands played!

I'm not one of the cool kids I guess, even though I really like all forms of poker and have fun playing them I in no way think NL Holdem is boring or easy. The best players in the world have solved NL Holdem??? Sweet. Do me a favor though, come to the Tulalip and sit 1/3 with me for a few hours, we will count how many Dan Colemans are at the table playing a solved version of poker. Come on a double high hand day for an even better time.

I only find HL boring because its the only thing I ever played for my first 5 years of playing poker. I like HL. I just like it mixed in with some other games.

Yeah, even though I'm still in love with the coco, I mean NLHE, I'm definitely not saying that wouldn't be a VERY fun night of cards. I just don't "mind" playing NLHE like a lot of people seem to.
