INLAY ERROR CHIPS!

PXL_20230201_170749104.jpg

I think I notice something here. One of the $1 chips and one the $25 chips look slightly different. They may not be originals. :wow: With the chips on the left, the inlays are whiter, the bear looks bigger and has different shading, and denoms look bigger.

???

The bears on the right have more detail, especially in the fur. The one on the left looks like a photocopy. :wow:
Interestingly, in my Rounders set purchased last year, the bears look like the ones on the left.

So this is how Patek Phillipe of chips looks like... Nice

Which one isn’t like the others? Mine looks like the one on the right fwiw.

Jesus now we have to worry about counterfeits. You can see the gap between the number and bear is larger on the left than the right. This rules out printer error. Definitely slightly different artwork.

The 414 spots look wider on those too.

Might be the work of that Red guy if in fact these are counterfeits. Didn't he do some shady stuff with extras from personal custom sets?

Yeah I was just going to suggest checking the cross-hatching on the inlay to see of it lines up with the base cross-hatching.

I zoomed in and did a screenshot on my phone.

Cross hatching is correct on both. I'm guessing there may have been different runs. Ooof

Oh shit! Dr. Evil Ott may have really f@cked things up here huh? Get that guy on the phone.

That's why I stuck with the Donkey KGB set on the DHR mold.
I knew instantly and it cracked me up!

Earlier today someone (not naming names), typo'd 'DDR' and post pics of HHR, I though, damn there's a Dance Dance Revolution mold?!

looks like the "error" chips match the right-side version of the rounders chips above

comparing these both to the version Adam Savage made* it appears the left version matches the bear and spacing very closely**. From what I understand Adam had to change the way the bear was facing to get his replicas. It could be that the version on the left were made at the same time as left-facing bears by manipulating the new art from Savage.

* note the video was published in 2019 and states that the chips were made 7 years earlier. Im not sure when RED Ott was around.

** to the best of my ability looking at screens

I can guarantee all the chips I was offering are from 1998. No later replicas, I never owned any of those.
Look closely at the set on the certificate a few posts up. See the $25 is different to the rest. Made in two batches.

When I bought some rounders chips from Jim (old CPC owner) he said the following (nothing sensitive, seems fine to post these messages):

Just sharing information - @apple102 Some other folks noticed the same difference in the bear for a few other chips too. Just tagging you as a heads up that I shared our messages!
