Yes, you all know the standard Aztar tourneys - and then there were the striped tourneys. Only very few sets of these are out there. Correct me if I am wrong, but probably less than 10, maybe even just 5.

This set is ranked among the top sets among collectors, and certainly deserves the term of Holy Grail. Along with the Mapes, this set has always been my favorite!

I was able to build a set of 568 chips, with the following breakdown:
25 160
100 162
500 125
1000 100
5000 21

The first and last of the following pictures show the set as it is now. In between, you find the pictures I took in 2009, when the set encompassed 5s as well, but had less of the higher denominations. You may know them from my weekly chip pr0n over on CT.

The good news for you is: This set will go up for auction in the classifieds within the next few days. Keep your eyes peeled!

okay i like these.
would someone offer what kind of tournament these could support?

Beautiful set, and as always the BEST pRon !!

more detail, please

You could do a two table 20 man t10k tourney with an 8, 8, 2, 3, 1, breakdown. That's a little screwy, but it would work.

You could do a more standard 12, 12, 5, 6, breakdown (also t10k), but you would be limited to 16 players (if you want identical stack distributions).

You could also do a 20-man t10k with different sets of stack breakdowns, if so desired.

When JM brought his over for one of the first BBOTBs, we played a 22 or 23 man T10K with it. Worked great with some caveats (some people got different starting stacks, limited color ups, etc).

YMMV but IMHO, these are the Wynn chips of hot stamped tourney sets.

I want to love them, I really, really do, but they just don't do it for me - I need an explain it to me like a 5 year old.

I love pastel colours, I love hs sets, I love the edgespots (with the exception of the 25) but the font (of all things) and that the colours don't compliment each other in the grand scheme of the set - just kill it for me.

Have you played with them or seen them in quantity in person? Maybe more than any other set I've seen I think they benefit from laying your eyes on them in real life. In particular the hundos and 500s seem like they might tend to blend when you see the photos, but they don't at all on the table. I thought these were good looking chips when the pr0n first got out, but when I played with them they went into the all time HoF for me.

Wish I had the money to burn. I would have bought them all up way back

Speaking of JM... whatever happened to that guy? Is anyone in touch with him? Is he just completely off the grid?
I was in touch with him last year when I bought some chips off of him. He works nearby so we met up and chatted for awhile. I tried to get him over to PCF as I'm sure others have too but he he said he wasn't ready or interested in getting back into things yet. I mentioned that his customs were up for HOF nomination a couple of years ago and I saw a little twinkle in his eye so maybe some time soon. Really nice guy and obviously has a ton of knowledge.
