I scored two racks of mint chips from Bally's on my last trip. These chips will probably be obsolete by summer with the property re branding. This auction is for one rack, with the option to purchase second rack at winning price. The reserve price for the second rack is $350. This auction is starting at $250. Chips will ship for $10 in usps sfrb

nice score and nice chips....

I have mentioned this before, but if not you, someone else should really go there right before they go obsolete and just buy like 100 racks from the cage. Honestly, I don't think they would care at all. Chips are still live and they are just going to get destroyed the next day, week, whatever and that way they get $1 ea for them where if they don't sell them to you they just have to destroy them for $0. Clearly this only works for $1's, but still......

Hmm, might be time for the true degenerate chipper test... buying chips you previously parted with.

GLWA!

I have tried a bunch of times at the main cage. Spoken to a handful of staff, and no success yet. The poker room is easier. You can buy a rack or two while playing at a 3/6 game without raising any suspicion.

But as for the common sense argument, no casino cashier employee gives a shit about the bottom line of a billion dollar company. They work for a little money and the cage is one of the strictest, most micro managed operations I have ever seen. It is so easy to get fired, and buying racks of chips is such an unusual request, they are just covering their ass and I completely understand.

I think someone noted in regards to another close LV casino they were actually told to tighten up on letting racks/chips out of the cage. Maybe they know this is the thought process for collectors so purposely try to prevent it.

Have you tried right before the chips got cancelled, like the day before?

I haven't done it for a long time, but years ago in the week before the Westward Ho went down the 50c & $1's were being sold from the cage at face to a steady stream of collectors. By the final date, I believe they were struggling to keep their games going because they hardly had any left

wow. well I will give it a shot if they give a date on their switch over. Sounds like it could be worth a try. for now I'm just grabbing a rack here and there to stock up.

I hear ya. I do think it would be worth trying. The Mirage and the current Hard Rock will be other ones coming up soon.
