Hey folks, looking for a barrel of RHCs. The denom/color/inlay doesn't realize matter, I'd just like to pick up a barrel to shuffle and get a feel for the RHC mold.

I'm guessing something like Horseshoes are going to be the easiest to obtain. Would prefer to spend less than $1 per chip if there's anything out there in that price range. Lightly used is preferred, they certainly don't have to be mint. I'm trying to get a good feel for them in case a nice set of something comes up for sale in the future. Casino used is probably fine as well if that'll help with the price.

Have a barrel of Bahamia $25s if interested..
$25 plus shipping (if you want 30 of them - $35 plus shipping)

I can send you 10 HS 1’s, and 10-15 HS 5’s.

$10 shipped. Just send ‘em back eventually once your done. No expiration date.

Pm if that works!

In my experience, there can be quite a difference in feel between different RHC chips, due to differences in wear, color, the level of cleanliness, the 'softness' or 'hardness' of the clay, or some combination. Two examples of chips I've shuffled recently include:

Some RHC Native Lights $1s chips (which are off-white color, and are slightly used) in excellent, but slightly used and slightly dirty shape, and these have a great feel when shuffling - the edges are still mostly sharp, but the edges just slide over each other, and they shuffle like butter. I'm not sure if I've ever felt a RHC chip that shuffled better. IMO, the clay on those chips seems to have a slightly 'harder' feel than some other chips, RHC, THC or other.

The Cleveland Horseshoe $5 and $25 primary chips (red & green, respectively), which are typically well used (but not bicycle tires), have a 'softer' feel to the clay, in my opinion. Just going by memory, I seem to recall that the red $5 has a 'softer' feel when shuffling than the green primary $25s, even though they're the same mold and similar casino used condition. (Anyone else notice this, or am I just crazy?)

Go to a casino that uses the RHC mold, give the nice lady at the cage $20 and ask for a barrel of ones.

Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle. Take them home if you like.

When you are done with them, return them to the cage and get your $20 back.
That's a good idea, but the closest casino is pretty far away and I don't know what chips they all use :(

Chip rental! I think I'll take you up on this... especially since HS's are pretty widely available and I may pick up a set some day.

I'll PM you later this evening!

I don't agree you should need to travel to a casino to get chips, when you have help from PCF members willing to help you out, but I do want you to know there is a way to often tell what chips casinos use. @v1pe, meet the Chip Guide http://www.chipguide.com/. Chip Guide, meet @v1pe.

Of course, these feel a bit different than regular RHCs, because of the giant inlays.
Just something to keep in mind.
I have a lot of Mint/near mint RHC chips and after handling them for the last hour I'm not sure I agree with this. I cannot tell the difference between my PNY and my Terribles......UNLESS....... I have them side by side and handle them right after each other. If I handle one stack and walk around the table and handle the other I can't tell a difference. The giant inlay may be a little 'slicker' but they have also seen about 2x as much felt time and I can feel a difference in edge sharpness.

Now used RHC chips are WAY different than mint in handling

Ahh, I was aware of this site, but not the query tool...plus I hadn't thought to look. Thanks!

You might be right. I just grabbed a stack of Fan of Cards and a stack of Terribles to test it. Unfortunately the Terribles have a bit more edge than the fan of cards, so that's what I notice the most, in comparing them. The giant inlay chips definitely sound a little flatter, fwiw.

^^ This. I can pick out a giant inlay chip stack vs a regular inlay RHC stack on sound alone, even if I'm not the person doing the shuffling. And if in comparable condition, I can tell them apart ten out of ten times if shuffling myself.

And this made me realize I have this half barrel of terribles $1’s I don’t need.
$20 shipped if you want them. (Just the 10 terrible)

Thanks all for the guidance and advice! I'm going to take @chubbyone up on his offer to borrow some HS $5s for non-giant inlay, and snag some of those Bahamia's from @softchewy for giant-inlay.
