Hey guys,

Looking to install new cupholders on the Barrington poker table. I’ve seen plenty of installs done on here, but haven’t seen anyone list how they actually secured/anchored the new cupholders.

The original ones are glued to the table, but since you’re installing larger/ deeper ones, you end up drilling through the table, but how do you anchor them and keep them secure?

Has anyone that replaced cupholders figured this out yet, or does everyone just keep them unsecured as drop-in’s and they don’t wobble much/feel loose?

Any help is appreciated so I can get this squared away!

On my Barrington, the hole is the same size as the cup holder. So it's held in place by friction.

On an old wood folding table to poker table conversion I did, the holes were slightly larger. In that case I used a little left over 1/8"(?) foam on the outside of the cup holder wrapped tightly with duct tape to get a snug fit.

In both cases it wasn't necessary to glue, or otherwise permanently fix them in place, and there are some benefits to not doing that.

This is great, thanks for the input! Do you know what brand/model cupholders you used?

This is what I used as suggested in the Barrington table thread:

You can easily run hot glue around the outside of the cup holders under the table at the new holes but as mentioned there is pluses to not doing that if you ever need to take the rails off, mine are snug enough they dont move and I can remove them if I needed to without glue.

Yeah.. really wish the default cup holders were about 1 in wider. :(

I just added thumbtacks horizontally into the wall of the cup hole to make it tighter but still removable for cleaning.

I have used pieces of the "fuzzy" side of self adhesive velcro and lined the inside of the cut out hole....this takes up some of the space and provides enough friction to hold the cups in place. If you need to take up more space than the velcro will fill, I have also used some thicker self adhesive foam weather stripping in the hole too.....

I would not glue the cup holders in place.....you will want to be able to take them out to wash them.....

get those that are recommended on the barrington thread and you won't have issues, i've done two tables with them and followed the information on this site. they fit snug and you can push them out from the bottom if you want to remove to clean/wash.

My cup holders are friction fit. Someone here recommended using painter's tape if the cupholders do not fit snugly. Luckily I didn't have that problem with my cupholders. For a more permanent solution you could create a bracket or use glue to seal the cupholders, but it's more convenient to be able to replace the cupholders incase they get damaged or need to be cleaned.

I was thinking of using a hose clamp to secure the cup holder. Once the holder is in place, lightly tightening the hose clamp around it while it's pressed to the underside of the rail will prevent the cup holder from moving until you want it to.

However, I have yet to try this method. :ROFLMAO:
