I am looking to buy a deck or 2 of Bee playing cards.

I already have a few decks from different manufacturers that i really like playing with, my current deck of choice is the Cartamundi's 100% plastic, silvery grey box ones. Absolutely love the feel of these.
But a buddy of mine who plays at our regular game keeps talking about Bee cards that he used to play with a long time ago, and saying how nice they were.
Am i missing something? all the cards i see from Bee (also Bicycle) are plastic coated paper cards.

Is there a particular BEE playing card that stands out from the others?

I'm not an avid Card Collector, but it is fun to try out different decks. Any input much appreciated.

Matt.

Not many people here will EVER go back to paper cards. Much less recommend them to anyone. I'm sure there are some 'ok' paper cards, but with so many cheap and decent plastic alternatives, why go paper...

Buy a few different plastic setups, Copags, Modianos, Fourniers, Gemaco, etc... and introduce them to your group. Let them decide which of the setups they like best. However, IMHO the Modianos PA's will be the best of both worlds, having a paper-like texture with the feel and playability of plastic cards. Just my 2 cents.

Of the few i've introduced, there seems to be mixed reviews from everyone on all of them. No one card fits all.

So i took the Cartamundi's i think are the best yet (even after playing with Copags and 2008 WSOP cards) and left the Cartamundi's that i like but are not wow.
As i type this it looks like another regular just bought a set of BEEs for this Fridays game, so we'll see.

Cant please everyone thats for sure..

I did play with Modianos at MaxBs charity game, and they were definitely a high quality card.
The colors were outstanding.

Bee cards are nice for paper cards I spose. They're rider back just like Bicycle and feel identical. You'll typically see them used in a black jack shoe then sold at the casino gift shop with a hole through them. I wouldn't use them for poker since they'll get bent and warped in less than a rotation. I think your friend's being nostalgic. Bring a deck to the game and everyone will see how easy they die. As to where to find a deck, most dollar stores carry them.

I think your right about the nostalgia.
