I'm looking to finish my Cleveland Horseshoes set and put it away for now. I usually only play .25/.50, but I've tried to make it playable for $1/1 or $1/$2. But the reality is that I'll probably sell this sometime in the future, so I guess I'd want to finalize this at a breakdown that will make it most appealing for sale, not for what suits my needs best. Right now I have:

100 x .25
400 x 1.00
200 x 5.00
140 x 25.00
20 x 100.00
5 x 500.00

I feel like I should swap one rack of $1's for a rack of $5's. But I'm thinking the 1/2 players out there are gonna tell me to swap 2 racks of 1's for 2 racks of 5's. I like it how it is, actually, because I play lower stakes and I really really like the THC $1's. But like I said, I'll probably sell this off at some point, and right now it's just headed for a closet, anyway. So what do you think?

If you plan on selling it, leave it as is. That will just be more chips you will have to sell.

Most likely when it sells, it will be broken up anyways.

If you will be using it, and playing $1/1 or $1/2 much with it, then definitely get 2 more racks of $5's.

In my experience:

25¢/50¢ - $1 gets the most action, load up on them
$1/$5 - $5 gets the most action, load up on them

YMMV depending on how your games play.

If you're selling it, let the buyer do the tweaking. You're already selling a wonderful start, and everyone's opinions will vary.

If you're keeping it, tweak for what you prefer. If it's already there, stop thinking about it. You can spend your time more productively obsessing over a new set. ;)
All of this. Don't add to sell. There are sometimes when that can make sense, but this likely isn't one of them.

That being said, if you're looking to make a playable $1/$2 set, let's assume a full ring game and $200 buy-ins/rebuys. Let's also assume that there are 20 total buy-ins or reloads during the course of a session. That's $4000. That eats up all of your hundreds and most of your $25's. Sure, you do have some $25's left and all your $500's so technically your bank is sufficient, but you also only have 200 total redbirds which means you're going to be make change an awful lot. The $500's are nice for bling, but I'd consider sacking them entirely, adding a barrel of $25's, adding a barrel of $100's, and adding not less than one rack of $5's. Doing that helps you make less change during the game and still maintains a good bank (and full racks).

That's a lot of assumptions on my part. I simply offer them to illustrate that for many people, having more than 200 $5 chips is good for the flow/pace of the game.

Lots of good thoughts here.
I'm definitely not buying anything else for this set. I may look to trade a rack of $1's for $5's, just to make it more playable for $1/$2.
I'm not sure how I ended up with 4 racks of $1's anyway (honestly, I thought I only owned 3)
My table only seats 8, and I rarely play with more than 6, so I can't see any circumstance at any stakes where I'd want that 4th rack of $1's.

dont add on to sell, PCF is overloaded on RHC chips and sellers are usually losing money on any of the Cle/Cincy sales
And I agree with this completely, by the way. They're a blight; hopefully the prices on the clevelands will creep up a bit and they'll be a little more sellable in a year. Not that I'm looking to profit off them, but at the prices they're fetching, they're worth keeping. In the closet.

strage dynmic, u never know which chip sale is going to have the best market.

Casino aztar a few years ago - had boatload of chips - similar prices to Cleve HS. now the hgh denoms for Aztars get really good money

It will also depend on if there are more chip sales between now and then as well

I'd add racks to make it better for .25/.50.

We play deeper up here. It's the snow.

I'd keep all the chips you have and add 3-5 racks of 5s.

I look forward to meeting my crazy friends to the North.

I would add 50x 0.25 and 50x 5$

I like to have 150 0.25$ in my 25/50 game.

Starting stack is
12x 0.25$
12x 1$
and then 5$ depending on the buy in.

In 1/2$ I like to have plenty of 1$ and 5$ when I say plenty I mean a lot.

and when I say a lot I mean a ton.

Starting stacks in my 1/2 game.
20x 1$
11x 5$
1x 25$
and if the buy in is bigger then more 5$ and maybe another 25$

I feel more chips = more betting and more action

For me, in a 1/2 game, with a max buy in in the 200-500 range, 25s shouldn't come out until rebuys start. More 5s!
