Best deal you're going to find that's close to your target price is probably the custom ceramics from the china groupbuys. Those can be had around .30ish I believe.

IME, Monaco Casino from discountpokershop.com are the best in feel and stacking at that price. (Outlaws and Lucky Horseshoe seem to be the same material.)

Some of the Claysmith lines have better colors, The Mint and Bluff Canyon, in particular, but they might be more slippery and have rough edges from flashing.

Always best to get samples if you can.

Place a want ad here, and you may be able to shake something else loose. Maybe some Nexgens or PGI 8V’s?

Just starting some home games and decided to keep it cheap. Looking for the best chips I can get for around 20¢ a chip. Could pay more for the right deal. Thanks!

Everything mentioned above. Plus Poker Knights or Lucky Horseshoe. The Claysmith chips have several different label styles and can also be purchased as blanks called 12 Stripes. Then you can put on cheaper labels like the ones from Sticker Mule at around 10 cents each. Just search on any of these terms and you'll find info about them.

All the chips mentioned are "sluggos" which have a metal insert and weigh 12-14 grams each, except for the PGI 8Vs which are china clays. Heavy chips get a bad rep around here as most people prefer "casino weight" chips  :ROFLMAO: which are mostly in the 8-11 gram range. China clays like PGI 8V are usually around 9.5 grams. They are not made anymore, but they hit the classifieds pretty often. I have a set of them with custom DIY labels. They are a bit more than sluggos and go for around 25 cents each.

If you can increase your budget a bit, to the 30-40 cent range, you can get ceramics from "Tina" a vendor in China that we use for customs and tribute sets. There's almost always a Group Buy going on and there are lots of options and chips types (cards mold, plain mold and both 39mm and 43mm chip sizes.

Here is a new GB that just listed today. Plain mold chips in lots of designs for 33 cents a chip!

So while lots here love their expensive clay chips, there are quite a few options for those like you who are on a budget. Good Luck!

I remember when my budget was $.20

Don’t let go of this expectation @SarahFuller69 . Try not to lose this objective.

I wish I could go back and slap my dumbass silly for buying all these Paulsons, try to stop myself.

That said, it’s a fabulous hobby with decisions to make all the time, financially and mentally, that will pave the way to your end goals.

Welcome to the site and sorry I couldn’t answer better for ya, the questions you had regarding those BCCs I sold. They weren’t right for a new chipper.

Best of luck hunting your future set(s)

No worries! I appreciate the honesty. I can always upgrade later after seeing if it’s something myself/my friends like doing!

Thanks so much for the info! I am definitely keeping an eye on the group buy if I don’t find something sooner!

A group buy opened up for the China ceramics from "Tina" and there are some nice layouts. 39mm are 33 cents, and, there have been a few sets for sale recently cheaper than that.

Perhaps you could post what kind of set you're looking to put in to play most often, cash or tournament? If cash, what denoms are you playing, nickel/dime, .25/.50, $1/$2?

Also, I'm moving and just found these from 20 years ago. There are 800, and I'm not sure I'm color breakdown, but I'm assuming they're are at least 3 colors. You can have them, just part shipping. That may get you started and nuy you some me time to decide on "your" set.

These are not 20 cents, but what a smoking deal for anyone looking for a nice, inexpensive set... A large and playable set of real compressed clay chips in excellent used condition. (the best condition in my opinion) Just need a little cleanup and for under 80 cents a chip! Play them undenominated as is, or have them milled and labeled with the design of your choice.

Sorry, I meant to send that in a PM

Im in the same boat as the OP. If he doesn't take some let me know. I'm looking for a starter home set. If you had something like 5/25/100/500 let me know. I think i'm local to you as well.

I purchased the outlaw set on Amazon for $140 think it was about 300-500 chips. I actually really liked them, but the Paulsons felt way better. For the price I’d get those in a heart beat.
