Best denominations to buy for low stakes poker game (4 Viewers)

a little more context. In addition to hosting the game, i will be purchasing a new set of chips. was thinking - $.25 / .50 / 1 / 5 / 10 / 25
is it a waste to buy .25 chips? Also i see some sets have $2.5. thx

Its a waste to buy the 50cent chips if you'll be playing a game like .25/.50 blinds. Same with 10s; you want to be efficient with the chips you're using to maximize your bank while also reducing change making at the table.

I'm not an efficient person, we play those stakes and my set:
200 quarters
300 $1s
200 $5s
100 $25s
and some hundreds because this website is idiotic. This gives me $6k+ in bank.

If you want to be efficient, cut a rack of quarters and a rack of $1s but I enjoy having more chips.

Yeah, it's really hard to suggest a breakdown without the stakes you're playing and the amount of money you expect on the table. If you're playing .50/1 and never expect to play lower, then you can get fifty cent chips and skip the quarters, otherwise I'd suggest getting quarters and skipping the fifty cent pieces.

You really don't need 50cent or $10 chips. They're made obsolete by the quarters and $5s.

If you don't have to have full racks I like what I refer to as "the Mile High Breakdown"...

160 quarters
240 $1s
200 $5s
80 $25s
20 $100s

700 chips total

This gives you $5,280 in the bank and allows you to cover .25/.25, .25/.50, and .50/1. You can stretch it to play 1/2, although you'd probably want some more $5s for full ring.

Tough to answer without knowing your stakes. Denomination best be multiples of 4-5 so most people get .25/$1/$5/$25 for .25/25 and .25/.50 blinds. But if doing $1/$2 then no needs for quarters

When in doubt, 100/200/200/80/20. If your smallest chip is 25c the rest should be 1/5/25/100. You can probably skip the hundreds though.
