I just want to say on a personal level that this matchup happening in the second round is absolute bullshit.

When I confer with a small group of advisers after this year's voting is done, I'm going to look for feedback on how to make sure we don't get these matchups so early on and just overall a better way to do things other than random draw.

It's all good. We all know what the real Super Bowl is here  :ROFLMAO:

I forget, was there an overall ranking of those who made it into the bracket? Then one could seed first and last, 2nd and 2nd last, etc?

Ranking them requires someone to be judge and jury before the voting. And it’s subjective. Random all the way. This isn’t the only tough early match. There are a lot of great sets this year!

Nope. Totally random. I assigned numbers to each set. Hit "click" on a random number generator, and the first two numbers to come up were matched against each other. Then repeated until every set was matched up against another.

Yeah I agree random is most fair, but if there were seeding, basing it on an overall poll and have the most/least popular matching up would at least be less unfair since it's not just the judge/organizer ranking sets. But absolutely there are some amazing sets so definitely some hard choices!

Loser's bracket @JMC9389 , or one wildcard from all the losers? Probably too much work. Thanks for doing this!

Any selection approach ultimately ends up with the same result if choosing the best set is the goal. The only reason to pre-rank them would be if people cared about 2nd or 3rd place sets, etc, in which case even a biased pre-ranking system would outperform a randomized one. I think the ideal system for something like that though would be ranked choice voting, but ain't nobody got time for that! :ROFLMAO:

I'm happy to lose to Casa Mango though. It really is an epic set! It's my favorite of the sets on offer this year.

I absolutely love your set. I love the inlay and the theme. I love the progression and the colors.

I feel like every year there are these shocking matchups that seam like the super bowl in the first or second round. I eish you luck and hope the set is getting much love on your table!

Yeah, a real shame for sure that one of these sets is going to be eliminated so early.

I was actually thinking about this earlier and I wonder if the following wouldn't be a good option for voting in the future:

Round One: Poll w/ all nominated sets. Everyone can vote for "x" amount and the top 50% of vote getters go through to the next round.

Round Two, Three, etc: Same as above, eliminate sets until there are 3-5 left and use the last round to determine the winner (or top 3).
