Best Hotstamp/Open Class Chipset of 2020, Round 1: ACF Tournoise Paris v Vesper Club (2 Viewers)

I think this is the best picture with all the denoms.

By the way, the Poker 21 table top come from the ACF, there is nothing marked special but it was at the ' Cercle ' when the room has been emptied.
Thank you for watching. ;)

I still don't understand being in this category, @gopherblue's chips is great but nothing to do with my custom ceramic set, and it's not the same budget and type, a little strange. The logo has never been edited like this, except on a ACF medal I believe, this is not realy a tribute, I guess you organize your elections like us with strange things, well ok.

It made more sense to have 4 categories than 5, so the smaller two categories were combined.

I will be making determinations on eligibility as well as other minutae along the way. I intend to make any decisions with impartiality and in the best interest of the contest. If you can't agree that I can be impartial, please don't enter. This is a meant to be a fun contest, not to ruin enjoyment of the forum, drive users apart or generally cause a toxic environment.

The Vesper clubs are an incredible old school style set. A lot of careful planning and thought went into the creation of this set and the results are nothing short of outstanding. Wish I had more votes!

With no disrespect to the ACF tributes at all, I’m stunned that Vesper Club is losing this badly. It could have been plucked right out of the 1940’s...pure vintage vibe with no small amount of work being necessary to create it (I think four different vendors?). I’d be curious to know what it is about the ACF tributes that has people showing such strong support early on. Not looking for argument or debate - like what you like! I’m just looking to understand.

I agree. It really makes me question the taste and discernment of the voting “public.” WTF

Maybe people don’t understand what these are, and what an achievement they represent. Urge everyone to read the story @gopherblue linked to above.

No offense but how is this even a question? The Vesper clubs are on an entirely different level. This thread is comical to me.

It's been since he edited the list, he finds it fun, I must be in the ceramic category or hybrid not against luxury clay, that's nonsense, sorry for the fun but it's really stupid. Or rigged.

Its all in fun, but putting ceramics against clays really isn't a a fair contest. I imagine solid blank clays would beat ceramics most the time.

Yeah, I do kind of feel for @lapincretin here. Nice set, but it’s just not really a fair fight against the epic Vespers... Also appreciate your username! (Spent some time in Normandy as a teenager.)

Actually I think your set is great, if I could vote for both I would :)

I think I had chances in the right category against other ceramics, well not very serious it makes me laugh too, it's just stupid and very fun. lol

it's not that big of a deal, I am in the same boat with my ceramics against a hot stamped wave and crest mold for goodness sakes. Just know you'll lose to clays and its not that your set looks bad but that your against clays.

I wonder how I have 18 votes, some people have pity and compassion with cheating ^^

Did you miss the rule about not entering if you didn't think I could be impartial?

I don't take kindly to your accusations that I rigged the vote and/or there is cheating involved.

I expanded the brackets to include a separate class vote because I agree a low-cost chip would not have a chance against a custom clay. Sorry my decision to double the work and attempt to level the playing field didn't meet your expectations.

Feel free to withdraw your chipsets from the main tournament. I'd welcome an end to your accusations.

It's not a problem of low-cost or the price to pay, it's a problem of chips and materials, ceramic géant hybrid Vs clay hotstamp ???

Some of these people just like a more plain-Jane design also. They don't need anything fancy or stylish. It's kinda ironic that both the inspirations for my set originally either lost or were losing.

Before I made the decision to go with Sun-Fly's, I had planned to do something similar in design to the Bean Town Poker and the ceramic design of that lost in an essential coin flip and the ACF's color scheme was something I really liked. I abandoned it for Sunfly because of price and time constraints, to be blunt, I didn't want to wait two to four years or spend $3000+ to have a playable set.

I voted for ACF because my design for Midnight Casino was going to use the same color schemes before I made the switch. I don't regret the change, tbh, the chips are fun and stylish, and the people I know who have used them love the chip design, I know Woody did a bang-up job with the chip design and the spiritual successor "High Noon Saloon" got stuck in limbo. :) Yeah, if you go up against a clay chip, you're gonna get your ass beat. But unless there's a huge cash, girl or immortality prize associated with winning best set of the year I wouldn't freak too much about it.

I came in to vote for vespers, but Jesus Christ people love to whinge.

Eric puts time and effort into running a fun poll and everybody complains about how they'd run things.

And instead of hiding behind the excuse of ceramic chips, try looking at the hmk voting thread and see how a decent ceramic set does against clay.
