Hey, has anyone done this? thoughts? Racks are great and all but I like to build my starting stacks before poker night and my tourney set and cash set are both 30 ship starting stacks. Any my OCD is getting triggered since barrels in racks are only 20 chips per row. Dealer trays with plastic spacers would be ideal with two starting stacks per row and larger denoms for rebuys. thoughts?

Starting Stacks:
10, 12, 6, 2 cash game of nickels, quarters, dollars, and fives.

The Project:
Anyone doing a Nanuk style case or something similar but instead of using 100 chip racks... Dropping a dealer tray on top. Possibly even two layers, 4 racks bottom layer and dealer tray sitting above. Here's my thing... Or most likely just one layer of about 600'ish chips single layer. who makes a best in class dealer tray. Any with 60 chip per row? Thinking maybe 600 chips, 10 rows of 60 would be perfect. single layer Nanuk. thoughts?

Criteria:
- Find a best in class dealer rack with 60 chip rows. (My starting stacks are prebuilt 30 chip stacks. Two starting stacks per row. Flanges around edges to sit on foam
- Tray could be 480 or 600 chips
- Find a Nanuk case that fits the tray, single layer most likely.
- Possibly have storage under the tray for either racks,

Cash set is 40 chip starting stack so normal racks could be appropriate.

There isn't a reasonable common denominator though between tournament (30 chip) and cash (40 chip) though. You'd need a different solution for each set unless you got something that could hold 120 chips. Super long chip tubes stored lengthwise in the case?

Aaaaaah Yea! Can you run down the pros and cons of using dealer trays in cases? First time seeing this. I knew someone had to have made something like this. Love the idea of dishing out starting stacks from a preloaded dealer tray. Where'd you get the tray? Pros/Cons, would you do anything different? Thx man, looks super usable.

Pros
It displays chips
Tray removes easily
Allows more chips to fit
Looks cool

Cons
None really
You do have to pluck more of the bottom pick and pull than the top but otherwise it’s works

I haven’t hosted a game since 2020 so I dunno hahah.

Ideally I’d put in a small lockbox to hold cash and cash chips from the case. There’s plenty room

One downside is that you cant use regular chip trays because I put them in sideways. I used Apache trays and covers but the chips shook loose so I got the 3d3p inserts and they are perfect. I can probably fit 8 more racks if I wanted

I’ll take some more photos tonight since I need better photos of the layout
Thanks man. So here’s my 3800 right now.

And here’s the orientation I’d like to work with in a dealer tray and a larger single layer case. Thinking a tray for these 600 chips in 10 rows of 60 each should work. Anyone doing a 600 chip dealer tray in a Nanuk or Apache case only one layer deep?

Ok so this might be a little expensive but Pelican 1495 makes a laptop case that's shallow and will hold this 500 chip dealer tray. Maybe there's a cheaper option but this looks like it would work nicely. Tray has 10 rows of 50 each with clear plastic spacers between each starting stack it should work really well for 10 players of 40 chips per and 500 chips left for upper denoms. Makes me nervous doing something different than the apache but to be honest would be wonderful to hand out starting stacks and reloads without getting into the second layer of chips in the 800 chip apache 3800.

Or the Deeper Nanuk 930 with some trays underneath. May have to trim the sides a little. Hope this helps someone else as well. Open to advise. Keeping my research notes here in one place.
