Just got watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2; I'm 99% sure the "2" stands for the $2 and 2 hours I'll never get back.

So which was the bigger sequel letdown, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 or Pitch Perfect 2?

I thoroughly enjoyed Guardians 2. Curious to hear why you hated it.

Even my wife, who enjoyed the first Pitch Perfect, felt that film said all that needed to be said... or sung, as it were.

I didn't completely hate either. But I liked the originals so much, and just though both sequels were huge letdowns in comparison. It wasn't any one thing with Guardians 2, just a lot of little things. Most of the jokes felt forced, the writing seemed uneven, and many of the action sequences felt ridiculous (even by relative standards). Again, maybe I'm being a bit harsh because I enjoyed the original so much and this just didn't come close (for me). I'll almost certainly watch it again, so we'll see if I feel any differently the second time around.

While that was a pretty disappointing TV finale, rivaling Lost in terms of overall crappiness, I'm simply trying to determine which of the two sequels named above was the bigger let down.
It's all I had, man. I liked Guardians 2 and have never heard of Pitch Perfect 1 or 2.

Jake and I both said the same thing when we saw it.

I loved the first one. Tolerated the second one.

Never saw pitch perfect 2. Shitty reviews were enough for me to avoid it.

So interesting... My wife and I laughed our asses off, mostly thanks to Drax but everyone really got into it. I was thankful he got the Jeremy Renner/Age of Ultron treatment of giving him much more to do and the best lines in the movie. Upon second viewing it felt very different than the origin story but was a lot of fun and even tugged on the heartstrings.

Thought it hit all the right notes, did great fan service and closed most story loops, and made continuity sense because Star Lord will be central to stopping Thanos in A:IW. The Kurt Russell renaissance continues, thankfully. And Baby/Teen Groot was a trip.

I saw Guardians (1) at the firehouse and loved it. Watched Guardians 2 with Mrs Zombie in the theater, and she loved 2. By extension, I thoroughly enjoyed 2 both because it was not interrupted by calls and because Mrs Z's laughter is infectious. However, as soon as we got home I found a copy of Guardians 1 on the dark web and we watched it together, and it was clearly the better movie.

Sequels rarely meet the quality of the original. When possible, watch movies in reverse order.
