These are a couple of my favorite $1s ever, I'm a big THC mold lover, and I'd love to find a rack or two of either of these for my mixed cash set, they'd go great with the Garden City quarters. Anybody have any or ever seen these in playable quantities?

I've never seen either in playable quantities, not to say they don't exist mind you. I always liked the Gulfport $1 which (like most chips!) used to be reasonably plentiful and affordable.

I'd like to know what happened to thousands of chips that were in casino's during Katrina? Did they truck them out before the storm hit? Locked them away in a vault? Some of the casino's were hit so hard that they were blasted right off their moorings, settling hundreds of yards from their original location. Of course I can't help but to envision chips just strewn about all over the beachfront and being scooped up by residents/relief workers/etc. The eBay listing linked below claims that the chips were found during cleanup (from the Grand Casino in Gulfport).
