What style of china clays are available as blanks currently? I have a friend starting down the rabbit hole of chips.

Only three colors available, but chipsandgames.com has "Sprint" mold china clays under their clearance tab for $7 for 50.

Palm ( PGI ) sells blanks, & probably has 2 or 3 different mold types available.., med greek key mold, 8v mold and tower and spear mold..

Also the Majestic blanks from Apache here. Some colors sold out, but plenty to work with.

Thank you for the help. I will get them started.

They've got three colors of the blanks. I've had good luck with the greys. They've seen a decent amount of use and have held up ok. The reds I've got are really dried out. Noticeable crumbling at the edges from a decent amount of use, and an instance each of an edgespot falling out and a chip breaking outright. A few others have crumbled enough that I won't use them anymore. Haven't had substantial issues with the green, but, as a high denom, they haven't seen as much use or been banged around as much. So while they seem alright, they haven't faced anything like the same amount of punishment.

For such a cheap chip, I'm fine with them. Also, I've got lots of the labelled Pyramids. Bought a batch way back in 09 and they're fine. Also, bought a bunch of their blue 1s on clearance about a year ago and they're fine. The 500s and 5000s I've gotten on clearance look to be respectable, but haven't been in play yet (haven't run a tourney this year).

I use the green ones as bounty chips with my Majestic chips (it was the gray chips but they got confused with the $100 Majestics). I would say they are on the soft side for sure. I have seen one flea bite out of one of them with their limited tournament use. They work perfect for what I need them for...but I'm not sure how long they would last as a primary cash set, etc.

That's good to know. I was looking at the solid color chips on the same site. I love the look of solid color chips with a white center label. I know they are china clay, and it sounds like not the most durable, but for .24 a chip, I wouldn't feel as terrible if I wanted to change them, or if they break at around .50 per chip as opposed to 1.50 per chip.

And now the solid colors are down to .07 per chip. I'm gonna take a flyer at that price.

I don't think you can go wrong there at that price. Gear has done a lot of labels for those chips so there are many playable sets out there. Good luck and post some pics!

Does anybody know anything about these?

Seems like it may be a cheap way to get my feet wet with making a custom chip. Or are they total garbage that break when you stare too hard? Please be gentle, I'm delicate...

I grabbed a few hundred of these to label as a gift and they were so brittle they would chip and break in my hand. They are so brittle that I couldn't even bring myself to sell them on eBay.

Maybe others have had a different experience but the chips they sent me were total garbage. Maybe they can be used as seating chips or bounty chips, but as for a playable set, unfortunately no.

I do remember about 4 of the grays broken in shipment. But the greens have held up a as bounty chips. You can just feel the softness of them though in comparison to other chips.
