Sitting Out
Yes, I am new to this site. I've spend a while reading and going to spend more. A lot of good info here!
I'm looking for some cool blank chips. I put on occasional fundraising events for friends, and would like to print my own custom labels for the chips in their tournaments (I have the means to produce them). I have found that a 5/10 starting blinds works well in this environment, so I'm looking specifically for traditional colors of $5, $25 and $100 chips. Thinking a 700 set to start, but want to have the ability to add more later. I already have two 'main' sets of chips, and players in fundraisers will be wowed more by the labels than the quality of the chips, so Paulson's and such are kind of overkill here. But I am also looking for something more than just the basic/boring traditional plastic home-game chips.
I've seen a few sites that have Claysmith blank chips that look nice and are in my price range. Hard for me to decide between 12-stripe and chip-and-stick styles; not sure why but I just don't care for the Milano design. I've seen a few others online - some have been discontinued so I don't want to go that route as it makes adding additional chips in the future difficult.
A local store had the Showdown chips and I REALLY liked them, but they only had them in large denominations - and they don't seem to be available in blanks. I can certainly order them online, but I was advised against putting labels on top of labels, even for a one-time tournament. True or false?
Majestic chips are nice, but more $ than Claysmith. They may be worth it, but like I said these are for hosted tournaments so they are a little more than I hoped to spend.
Any thoughts / opinions, maybe even snide remarks, are appreciated.
Thanks!
Lou
