A friend of mine wants to replace his China Clay Pharaoh’s set. He hosted a game last weekend and had 3 chips break while being tossed into the pot and the rest of the set is flaking and chipping so badly it is driving him nuts.

He doesn’t host often, 4-5 games a year so he doesn’t want to spend too much on the set. Budget of say $400 tops.

Looking for a set breakdown along the lines of:

150 $1’s
300 $5’s
80 $25’s
20 $100’s

A used Paulson set would be ideal, Sun-Fly Hybrids or other decent ceramics would possibly do. Maybe Bud Jones. Post some pics and let me know what you have!

Thanks,
Adam

I have a CPS set I would be willing to sell, but assuming he doesn't want another china clay set.

Cash set - 700 chips
25¢ - 200
$1 - 200
$5 - 200
$25 - 50
$100 - 25
$500 - 25

Not all China Clay sets are the same in terms of flaking. Sounds like the Pharaohs were particularly bad?

I think of all the china clays I have and have had and the only problems I have had was with the original CC Pharaohs, specifically the 1000's. The early ones seemed more susceptible, with later production not as bad. YMMV, and others may want to speak up.

Another option, although still CC, are the new Dunes from Apache.

He wants to avoid CC altogether.

I wish he would have decided this 2 months ago so he could have gotten in on the @p5woody hybrid group guy.

That would have been ideal. I don't have any sets in that price range. Heck, the only set I would "consider" selling (only to buy more chips) would be the Deja Vu set. I don't plan on selling that. Of course, I could lose all my money in CO and that could change things lol.

He really likes the Cincinnati Horseshoe chips, anybody have some for a little less than what they are selling for by Chip Exchange?

I picked up a set of these Chico chips from the Chip Exchange today for my buddy. The blue $20 is really cool I think!

He’d like to add a barrel of $100’s if something can be found that will work with the rest of the set.

Set is:
200 $1’s
500 $5’s
200 $20’s

Total bank of $6,700 should be more than enough for the $1/1 games he host. Worst case $100’s can play if the game gets big some night.

How does he feel about a mixed set?

Probably can't let everything in the picture go for $400, but if he's interested, we can talk...

My concern is if he only wants 150x$1, I'm gonna get stuck with a rack and a half of chips in a quantity that I can't move.

Just have Gene @ABC Gifts and Awards make a barrel of matching hundos in whatever color looks good with the rest of the chips (diggin' that blue $20). Use $100 bills if needed until they are done.

I like yellow with that white-red-blue lineup.

here would be my recomendations

heavy chips? - outlaw poker chips
ceramic? - Tiki Kings
CC? - Dunes
Paulson? - either Horseshoe set or you can get brand new Paulson Elites for .95 cents each and they feel amazing. i love my set.

i have a set of all four plus many others but those are my favorite of each category.

honestly most of my friends like the outlaw chips above all the rest, and those are the cheapest on this list.
