I have a friend that is looking for a set and originally told me 'no budget'. I started sending him links to clay chips that are $3+ each. He still hasn't given me a budget, but I'm learning that $1 / chip might even be too much. You should get samples. Figure out how long you want them to last and how often you play. Do you want security? If so, retail chips do not have any security since people could just order them online.
Custom or semi custom China ceramics could be an option, around 55 cents+ per chip + shipping.
BR Pro is a better option for custom, but more expensive than the China chips.
Checkout thechiproom black Friday sale. Real clay casino chips for 30 cents, though worn pretty badly. Also look at the solids for 50 cents, or Bud Jones Roulette. The Roulette can be re-labled, but have to put some work in.
