please keep in mind that there arent any cheap composite chips. Cheap chips advertised as "casino quality, real clay" etc are usually injection molded plastic. China "clays" are also injection molded plastic but made to feel like casino chips.

so if you see a chip for 19-60 cent a chip advertised as real clay, it 99% isnt

Like @PsychoFeather said, anything advertised as "clay composite" is almost always just a plastic chip with a metal slug inside for added weight, and is completely unlike the clay chips used in casinos.

That said, metal-slugged plastic chips are the cheapest kind you can find, and if you're okay with the way they feel and handle and you've found a design that you like then there's nothing wrong with using them to play poker!

Use google to search for "poker chips" and you'll turn up plenty of sources, and just about any of them should do fine. Look for a design you like and then shop for the best price.

Do you have any experience with discountpokershop ? Ive google search some sites and as you and other said some of them are not as advertised. I came across a site (pokerchipsdepot) where the reviews are along the lines of "waiting over 3 months no response" and "want a refund".

I've made several small purchases from them and have never had any problems. I can't vouch for anyone else's experience, though.

From the couple orders I have made from them, I have nothing but good things to say about them. They even gave me a free 1000 chip case when I bought my first metal-slugged set. Shipping cost is on the high side, but that isn't uncommon for related sites.

I had good luck with both pokerchipmania and Apache poker chips. For your purposes you may be fine with Milanos or Majestics.

I bought the Monaco set for tourneys. I was happy with the service from DPS (had my chips pretty quickly, YMMV), and really happy with the chips, especially at 12¢/per. IMO, they are the best feeling and stacking of the inexpensive chips I've handled. Only negatives: some slight color variation in the yellow $1000's, and the $5000's were more slippery than the others. Plus they're heavy, but that's just the deal with the cheap sluggers.

@xtrashine I ask because I might be able to procure up to ~3.2K ceramic cards mold chips at 16.8¢ ea + shipping. Already made- there was an issue with the inlay, so while not perfect it still looks good. I can get you more details if interested.
