A couple weeks ago, 202 $1 chips were posted on ebay with a Buy-it-now of $99.99. But those didn't come with nearly as much fifth, so that could account for the lower price ;)

I seriously considered picking them up, but I figured the possibility of finding a few (or more) racks of $5 chips wasn't very high.

They're not too difficult to find. If you're patient you could probably pick up at least 600 $5s over the course of a year or 18 months. They used to be more common on eBay, too, so you could probably put up a WTB here and people would have some available.

I've hadn't actually looked for them before, so I wasn't sure. I only initially noticed and recalled the sale on those $1 chips because I have Todd saved as a separate watch on my eBay list.

I snagged the ones Todd was selling. Gonna toss them in the ultrasonic in the next week or so.

Those on etsy just seen a bit high priced. $0.50 per chip is about as high as I'd go. Finding reasonable condition $5s seems to be the challenge.

I believe @guinness used to have a big set of these a long while ago. I know several members have had and sold big sets in the past. Maybe they've all been spread out by now, though. Haven't seen a large set in a while.

I tend to agree the price is high, but I know when I'm trying to finish out a set, I don't mind overpaying for the last few racks.

I also thought about picking them up to make quarters out of them for my Highway 9 set as I thought the spots and colors would have worked well. But I wasn't sure if there was enough recess left given their condition, plus the last thing I need now is another project ;)

So you are the one that made them "no longer available". I had made an offer, he countered, I countered, "not available anymore". I really just thought they might be good for label quarters or something, or look at and wonder why the hell I bought them.

Meh, probably for the best.

I have over 2000 chip set of the California Bells w/ 130 CIC $100. I love the Cal colors and the history of this cardroom. I've been buying most of these at the .60-.80 price range except for the hundos and the $20 chips (these command a premium). And most of the $5 and below chips are wafers so hard to relabel. My 2 cents.

Let's see some pr0n!

The 'rack' of yellow $5s are sold. (I just bought them.) I may have overpaid, but to help fill out a set, it's a small price to pay compared to the nagging pain called buyers remorse.

My set of Cal Bells is about 22 $0.50 chips, 360 $1s, and (28+90?) Now 118 $5s. Just increased the bank from $516 to $961. And it only cost me $106.99 including shipping! :)

Any leads on a few more 50 cent chips?

I have some California Bells that I've been planning to list for sale for a while, but haven't gotten around to it. Send me a PM if you want first pick.

Not sure exactly how many of each I have (need to count) but I have 50c, $1, $2, $5, $20 and $25 denoms.

BTW, I thought Etsy was supposed to be "handmade" stuff, but I guess it's "vintage or handmade" after all, and these would qualify as vintage.

From what I can tell it's just about anything anyone wants to list.

The only thing I've ever bought on Etsy was a set of replacement joysticks for an Xbox 360 controller after my 5 year old decided to chew one up (literally).

Neither handmade, nor vintage :)
