When I first built my mixed casino set, it was based on the needs of my regular game, which is a .25/.50 NHLE game that rarely sees more than 6 players. It had 430 chips with a bank of about $1600.
Then I read about people talking about "A set has 600 chips or more" which made me feel like a 98 pound weakling getting sand kicked in my face.
Then I played at manamoungkids' $1/$1 game, where he has 6 racks of $5's and most/all of them hit the felt, making me feel even more inadequate.
So I present for your consideration, Phase 2 of my mixed casino set, presently at 718 chips for a bank in excess of $3500:

I'd play with it!

Definitely a great mixed set. Cool $100 plaques for sure and I love the $20 chip.

Hope it brings you many returns on the investment.

The plaques are gorgeous. Just got them today. I plan to buy more. Of course, I've never needed a $100 chip, but who knows, maybe there's a $1/$1 game in the future.

FWIW don't get too wrapped up in the amount of chips it requires To make a set of chip. I've seen 100 piece heads up sets. :).

You have a good looking setup. Nice work

What was your player Buy-in / stack breakdown, originally , & now ..

Yep. I had a Key west set that was 440 pieces. Worked almost perfect for a 10 player .25/.50 table.

It's an odd game. Most guys buy in for $20 initially, which I do with 12 quarters, 12 ones, and a five. If a guy initially buys in for 30 or 40, I'll make up the difference in fives.
I know a lot of people prefer big stacks of smaller chips, but this group likes bigger chips. Some guys will rebuy for $40 and want to get a $20 chip with it. Fine by me, as long as there are enough reds on the table that a green isn't going to cripple the game with constant change-making. And frankly, I agree - I like seeing all 4 chips on the table.
Nothing will change now - I just added more reds and greens, to support a $1/$1 game, that has yet to be planned.

we sometimes play .25/.25 dealers choice. Kind of fun playing SOHE 2-3 handed :)

And yeah, I agree with that - I was just joking about the chip inferiority complex. I expanded this set so it could handle a .50/1 or a 1/1 game. I'd rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them!

Anybody that tells you 100 chips is a set is compensating for short set complex, baby sets are 600, real sets start at a thousand.

;)

Those Matsui plaques are some of the nicest things I've gotten since getting into the hobby. They are incredible and when you get them next to one of the MSKs (I think that's what they were?) that were made you understand why one is $5/per and the other is almost $20/per, they are that good. I have sets of both Matsui 20s and 100s and the others so I'm not dissing the less expensive versions, they are actually an incredible value for custom printed plaques in my opinion, but they don't even come close to those Matsuis in all aspects.

More pron!!! :D

@upNdown

You might potentially have several sets there. The $5 from Golden Eagle Cripple Creek may be worth some money.
I remember seeing this this place early on (circa 1992) but I don't think they ever opened. I don't think I've ever seen a chip from there

Spinetti's sells the Golden Eagle $5's. I haven't seen any other denominations and I suspect these were the only denomination produced.
They're not cheap from Spinetti's but the nice thing is they're truly uncirculated mint.

By the way, was it that long ago? I've been trying to figure out if these chips are leaded or not, based on date of production. But there's like zero on the internet about this casino.

I think it is that old but I'm going from memory here (damn, 25 years ago). I made a few scouting trips to CC early on, looking for poker rooms. Things were just getting started then and the only place in town with a reliable (regular) game was Johnny Nolan's.
