Hey everyone,

I'm not a professional when it comes to chip collection but recently I found a WSOP chip set at a storage sell, however I can't find where this comes from AT ALL (mockup, fake or original). Like even if it's fake that's fine but I can't find somewhere that sells it? It came with a twin set black and red mediano jumbo set playing cards (which I've been told that they have been used in wsop Europe... Makes sense as I live in gemrnay)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't even want to sell it or anything I'm jsut curious. My best geuss that it was some sort of merch in some wsop event but there are no memorabilias attached to it?

P. S. The set is very heavy (ceramic) and the chip feels very authentic to casino chips I've played with

Look like merchandise WSOP mass market stock to me, the chip look like they are budget slugged plastic.
That's what I'd thought but the chips don't feel like the cheap plastic chips to me, I've had my fair share of those. They feel ceramic or at the very least PET, which is why I was confused on where they are from... Also I can't find these ANYWHERE to buy (even Chinese websites)

Sorry for not linking specifics, but I’m 100% sure that you have a set of mass marketed chips with WSOP branding, that retailed for probably something like $50-$100, depending on size, and might be worth $20 on Facebook marketplace today.
Whatever the details are, that is definitely not a chip that was ever used in play at the WSOP.

Actually, perhaps I stand corrected, at least re: the cards. There are several reputable online sellers in Europe selling those cards as Modiano 2008 WSOP Europe cards… https://www.pokershop.nl/wsop-playing-cards-black-jumbo-index.html

Those chips looks fake af though. Maybe a souvenir set sold during the event?

I agree, the playing cards are actual modiano (after checking the barcode), and the chips lack "charechter" to be actual event chips, but they feel very ceramic like (maybe PET?) and "good" quality (at least to someone who has been to casinos like once a month for a few years so not a big pro) and don't feel like cheap material... My problem is that I can't even find any source that sells this set or this cheap, have been looking for a week.

My guess is again some sort of WSOP souvenir set, but the lack of info about it is wierd to me. Also I found actual casino chips and lot of poker related memorabilia in this storage unit, would be wierd if the person who owned it randomly stored a "Chinese knockoff" WSOP c

Yes I don't think they were, I wasn't going to sell it either, they feel good and I will use it, just the lack of ANY INFORMATION regarding these online was wierd to me, I couldn't find anyplace selling them

Now again, they are 100% not metallic or clay, and they are way too heavy for a cheap plastic chip you buy on Amazon, they have a nice feel to them too (pretty similar to the casinos I've been to), my geuss is either plastic wowen ceramic, PET or at a off chance actual ceramic... Is there a test I can do to confirm that? Because again maybe me being a novice makes my judgment blurry as I'm not a chip collector just a casual player

I agree with everyone elses assessment. Never seen one like that for actual wsop tournament play

I hear you. I would say it’s probably because they’re just not significant.
They could be ten, fifteen, twenty years old. And possibly they were never sold - they could have been a promotional giveaway.

OP asks for information about his chips

100% of the replies say they are a "certain" type of chip

OP don't believe because it not the answer he is looking for

Why bother asking in the first place?

Lol I was thinking the same thing.

OP is from Germany. Maybe there is a chance that they were used in some circuit event over in Europe. But I would cast serous doubts on that. Less than 1% chance. The chips more than likely were sold as a souvenir chips during a wsop event.

Haha thx, I will say 0% as circuit chips as well, just bcos of the lack of details whatsoever in the chips

As an organisation, you want to make the chip as detailed as possible and make it difficult for people to counterfeit

Cards are likely worth more than the chips
Given the set they’re in, I’d be shocked to learn those are actually Modiano plastic cards. I don’t deny that similar plastic cards exist, but when’s the last time any of us have seen plastic cards included in a prepackaged briefcase set like that?

I checked their Barcode, they are actual Modiano plastic cards, again all might be fake, but for the 50th time, my issue is that even though it is fake why can't I find any place selling them?

I took it to a guy that one of my friends recommended (he works in a big casino in Dortmund) and he has been doing this for 20+ years, he let me know that he hasn't seen something like it, and obviously they weren't used in an actual event (yes obviously I knew that too) but they were weirdly better quality plastic than other commercial ones (like dice chips for example) , his geuss was that this was a one time promotional chip set for a WSOP event and from the cards he guessed Netherlands (no clue why didn't ask)...
