Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a good poker table topper the has a rail and is easy to peel cards off of. Preferably it would also have a betting line, no cupholders, and not be ugly (simple is better).

I bought this topper on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNNZHL4D?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) but since it's so slick and there are no rails the cards fly right off the table with even a small throw. This topper is also very hard to peel cards off of and I have to use a finger nail to get the cards up.

My table top is 78"x40" and I've only been able to find 1 topper with a rail (https://www.amazon.com/Brybelly-Tri-fold-Poker-Table-Top/dp/B001ON55TS) but any place with reviews all say it's terrible.

Does anyone know of any good options?

I use a fabric over neoprene mat and looking for a similar solution which is some sort of rail I can add on my table when we play Poker.

I found this for the rail: https://www.casinosupply.com/products/perfect-padded-rail-per-ft-no-returns-cut-material-1

But my table is 1 5/8 inch thick which it seems to recommend against. Maybe useful for you though?

I will say I love neoprene as a topper, it was fairly cheap and super easy to pick cards up off of, like a giant mousepad. I use it for board gaming as well. Decently slippery for dealing.

How good of a woodworker are you? Plenty of amateur ones have made their own decent tables with adequate tools, time, and patience, for relatively low cost.
Terrible lol. Id prefer to buy something instead of make it

This kind of rail needs to be stapled to the table through, right? Im looking for something I can put on top of my kitchen table for poker, then take it off easily when done.

Yeah, I was wondering if I could get away just sticking it on for a play session, or something similar, like some sort of pipe insulation. unsure if it would work that way. Sorry to not be of more help since trying to figure out the same problem.

I used to have that rail. It’s not stapled and I found that it flexes forward and backward. Probably would be better if it was affixed to the table somehow.

I’m also interested to know if there are any premade railing options. From my research, I also haven’t found any suitable options and am looking at buying a table used and perhaps taking the legs off to toss on top of my dining table.

It’s just a pool noodle slit to fit around wood. Did not even last a game before I tore it off.

I had the exact same dilemma as you - I ended up going an extremely roundabout way and ordered this topper from the UK (https://riverboatgamingpoker.com/pr...poker-table-top-in-speed-cloth-and-case-200cm) sent to a re-shipper address to ship over because for now they don’t ship to US directly. Some damage occurred on the way over, but it’s been working great for my games so far! I think the tri fold is still available. Great seller, very responsive, and they partially refunded me for shipping damage, would def recommend.

What do you mean by "re-shipper address"? Did you have to get in contact with a third party to do this? What did reshipping cost you?

Not sure what your budget is, but I just developed a pieced together rail table which could work well as a topper, especially if the playing surface was in 2 halves instead of a solid piece. https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/gauging-interest-basic-tables.110714/post-2299774

It would have a custom felt with betting line, and I could omit the cup holders.
That looks beautiful. I'd love to order something from you (we've even spoke via email before). Unfortunately I'm looking for something cheap and temporary for now. That's why I was looking for a simple retail topper, something like the one mikem linked.

Relatively easy to make a cut-to-fit rail out of 2" x 1/2" wood trim strips (or 1/2" plywood), if all you really need is something to keep cards on the table.

How would something like this work? Would it just place down on the table and easily remove after done playing? What would hold it in place?

This would be for my dining table so I can't make any permanent adjustments to the table. That's why I think a topper would work well. Very easy to set up/take down.

You can secure the rail (placed onto the topper on the table) by using velcro pieces, or with under-table bungee cords or swing-out pieces.

Using Super- or Heavy-Duty Velcro strips is easiest, wood under-table swing-outs are hardest to implement, and under-table bungee cords on hooks (two side-to-side in an X-pattern and optionally one end-to-end) are fairly easy and very effective.

So Velcro would be Velcro attached to the topper I have, and the other side attached to a custom built rail.

And the bungee cords would be attached to the custom rail and swing around, underneath the table, and hook onto each other. Did it get that right?

So sorry for the delay - yeah it was pain to reship, had to get a third party, reshipping cost me another $200 on top of the topper itself. The UK company said they’re looking into getting a US warehouse and they’ve been pretty quick to write back, so if I ever hear an update about that I’ll drop it here.

Geez. For that kind of money I could buy a Barrington and a topper for it from rjdev7. The only problem is the reason I want a topper is so that I can use my kitchen table to make set up/clean up fast when I have 2 tables running.

Yeah Barrington + rjdev7 topper is much preferred to this, but I will say this topper is amazing with a kitchen/picnic table, very quick set up and clean up. And somewhat more portable (def lighter than Barrington) if you need to bring it to a friend’s. If they keep the same prices once they open a US location to ship out of I would highly recommend.

the cards dont peel up easily because you have a hard surface below the topper. if you have something soft under it would be fine. also a good quality topper can cost $125+ so just buy a Barrington table that folds up. they are $250 last time i checked and theres a vendor on here that makes custom toppers for them
