Not Mine Card Guard WSOP 2005??? (1 Viewer)

Not very rare, and, as you suspect, they're not from the WSOP. I have at least 500 of these 18g brass chips, including the harder-to-find orange $500s that you see occasionally sold individually on eBay. They were my first step "up" from dice chips.

Hefty, but they do tarnish easily. After these "Binyons" were shut down, several similar brass chip sets were produced on the same mold. I had 500 of the generic "Las Vegas" version that I chucked when I moved to FL, but I kept the Binyons as a reminder...

Similar design as the fictional 'Tangiers Casino' brass chips, too. They all initially sold for less than $1 each; I had a bunch and gave them away as card protectors to league final table qualifiers. Spinetti's currently has this one listed on eBay for $20:

there is an old story that when Benny applied to buy The Westerner around the early 1950's that because of his prior convictions, he used actually used the Binyon spelling to get the gaming license approved or something of that nature. Don't think it has anything to do with these metal poker chips, however.

A guy in my monthly game has ~500 of these in various colors....I couldn't find much about them, never seen them in that quantity online.
He was pretty vague as to how he got them ('friend-of-a-friend' type story), but they were all dated 2005.
I'll have to look closer at them next time to see the Binion's spelling.
