my post office ask a lot of paper when i make a package to switzerland (registred + receipt) and i noticed they systematically stay a long time in customs

I understand! I wonder why that is tough - the customs thing I can understand for anything where the value is indicated above roughly 80$ they get checked and it also costs a lot - but the paperwork - Swiss bureaucracy meeting French bureaucracy - we should just meet and exchange GLWS!

some other swiss chips lover told me write a value below €24 ... but same problem it didn't pass the cusom quickly (even it's only one plastic plaque.. not barrel of chips! glad my packages always arrived maybe customss thinks chips are gold or other dense material

To share my experience... put correct value on parcel, put copy of paypal payment into parcel. 95% they will charge vat according to custom label. No issues at all.

Rarely they check/challenge the value. But of course if they see unreal numbers (ie 1000 chips / 5$) the chances increase. If they cant find proof of value in parcel the wait begins, they hold back item, send recipient a letter asking for proof. Being honest saves time and also is better for the seller who signs correct declaration...

The threshold by the way is 5$ in VAT. Below it just passes without being charged. Since we pay 8% the value threshold is around 60$....
